Last night I finally caught up with this big old bu**er over in Illinois. He was on my list last year, but he continued to give me the slip. Now hopefully we’re making room for a buck with a bigger rack. This morning I shot this other guy here in Indiana.

What makes an ideal man made scrape in your mind? Natural or constructed licking branch?
In laying out scrape lines I am thinking about a wagon wheel or spiderweb type design. I try my best to make scrape lines connect with one another and create junctions at stand locations. I prefer to use or enhance natural scrapes whenever possible, and in order to keep the consistency of a scrape line And keep it going in the right direction, I will add man-made scrapes.  like to implement natural fiber rope licking branches, where I can as I have found they last for years, hold more scent and I am convinced deer will spend more time per use working it over and rubbing it.
