It's Tournament Weekend ⚾️🔥

Get ready to follow along with the last tournament of the season as we kick off the MAT-SU Late Summer Classic 2026! We are thrilled for another great weekend of baseball hosted by Hooligans Baseball here in Alaska.

Here are a few key things to know before you head to the diamond to cheer on the squads:

Locations: Games will be split between Smith Ball Fields (hosting 10u, 11u, 12u & 14u Silver) and the Colony High School Baseball Field (hosting 14u Gold).

Good Eats: Come hungry! There will be a variety of food trucks serving up great food at both Smith Fields and Colony.

Swag & Prizes: Northwest Designs will be on-site at Smith Fields creating custom tournament swag. We'll also have awesome raffles, snacks, and extra baseball gear for sale at Smith Fields!

Venue Rules: Please remember that no dogs, scooters, bikes, or skateboards are allowed inside the fenced areas.

Camping: If you are camping at Smith Fields, spots are first-come, first-served, and you must stay in the parking lot at night after the fields and gates lock at 10 PM. (Note: There is no camping allowed at Colony High School!)

Whether you are cheering from the bleachers or following along from home, we can't wait to wrap up the season with an incredible week of baseball. 🧢⚾️

Most people have no clue you can still hunt beluga whales. In Alaska and parts of Canada, subsistence hunters are still allowed to harvest them because this is food, culture, and survival for Arctic communities. This is people feeding families in places where groceries are insanely expensive if they are available, and one whale can provide meat, maktaaq, oil, and other usable parts.

And of course, there are people who want these hunts shut down because they see a cute white whale and can’t comprehend why people wouldn’t just get meat from the store. But the people who probably deal with anti-hunters the most aren’t always deer hunters or elk hunters. It’s subsistence hunters who are constantly being told by outsiders that their way of life should disappear because it makes them uncomfortable while scrolling on their phone.
