UPDATE!!! FOUND!

Jay and I are looking for summer help with the dogs! We would like to find a college or graduate student to help around the kennel this summer.
We are offering a monthly stipend, use of laundry, and use of indoor shower. Expectation is for 2-4 hours per day with flexibility in timing. We are looking for someone who is able to perform light manual labor and run or bike with a dog. Experience with sled dogs is a plus but not required!

Wohoo!!!!! Go, Jay!!!!!!!!!

Jay Allyn is our next featured 100 mile racer.

Jay writes, “my wife Ashley and I started building our kennel, Orange Blossom, at our home in Ester last year; literally with lots of blood, sweat and tears and the complementary piles of fur and poop!”

They have 16 dogs that are a mixed bag of champions, Iditarod veterans, and developing 2yr olds. Their lead dog, Tempest, has even been a brief tv star of the show Life Below Zero!

So far the team has completed the Knik 200, ran in the Yukon Quest, and finished multiple shorter races. For Jay however, this is his first race as he is usually playing the role of the handler! He says, “I’m looking forward to seeing the perspective from the trail this time!”

Welcome, Jay, we are excited to see you on the runners for this race!

I’m so happy photographed our run. After getting a dog comfy on his snow machine, John escorted the team to a road crossing so that we could receive veterinary help more quickly than if we ran the last 8 miles to 101. He kept telling me that the team looked good, and honestly I was feeling so mentally down on myself that I thought he was just being kind. BUT LOOK AT THOSE FACES AND EARS! They really are enjoying the trail. Thankful for these lessons.
