Over the weekend, the community celebrated the life of former Nanooks forward Dima Kulmanovsky.
Kulmanovsky was born on May 15, 1973 in Khabarovsk, Russia before coming to Alaska in 1992 to play for the 'Nooks. He eventually earned his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1997 and his master's degree in business administration in 1999. Even after his playing days, Kulmanovsky continued his support of the Nanooks hockey program while also coaching youth hockey.
He was involved in the Hockey Alumni Association and was often found at the Carlson Center during game days. Dima was selfless, humble, and kind to all. His commitment to the community, his family, and his friends will be missed each day.
