A bit late, but better late than never (the board needed a summer breather!) - we wanted to share our gratitude for what was a great 2026 KL tournament.

The 2026 KL tournament was May 22-24. We heard from quite a few people, some from out of town, that it was a super fun time, on and off the ice. If you didn't make it this year, make a note to join us next year in May 2027.

A few thank yous: thanks to all the staff at Polar Ice for having us and being great hosts. Thanks to all the folks who lent a hand, helped us plan, manage the draft, set-up, clean-up, and everything in between. Thanks to all the goalies - were were able to have six teams because of you! Thank you to Fairbanks Ladies Of Wrestling for another amazing show and a fun Saturday night. Also a big thank you to all the skaters that traveled from other places around the state to join us. We hope you come play again!

Finally, thank you to everyone who bought pucks or donated to the Breast Cancer Detection Center of Alaska.

FWHA is pleased to host two scholarship programs to support girls and women in the Fairbanks community!

Each year we give scholarships (up to $1,000 for dues/gear/travel) to two age-8 and up girls that need help to play hockey. We also provide one scholarship good for FWHA league fees to one adult female player.

These scholarships are need-based. The application period is open from now until July 31. Scholarships awarded in late August.

Registration for the 2026 Karen Lewandoski Draft Tournament is open for another week - the deadline is May 15th! Tournament dates are the weekend of May 22 - May 24.

There is plenty of room - if you have been waiting, now is the time to sign up! $120/skater, $50/goalie.

Congratulations to all the Interior Alaska ladies that played in the U.S. Adult Hockey Classic (aka Labatt’s) on a fun weekend of hockey!

4/10 teams in the women’s bronze division were from Fairbanks and Healy, and clearly won in the category of cutest (and most intimidating) bench bosses, see photos for evidence. 💕

Extra shout out to the Healy Coal Queens for playing up a level due to a lack of enough teams in the division they signed up for, and for being a joy to be on and off the ice with, as usual.

Reminder to sign up for one more weekend of spring hockey, the KL tournament! We need at least a couple more goalies, especially. Link in the comments.👇
