Early in my coaching career, the thought was wins vs losses determined what type of program you ran. There have many a year where, if that were true, we would have been at the bottom for sure. Not winning a single game at the state tournament in 12 yrs, going 0-2 every time. Not winning regionals for many years and not qualifying for state in the same amount of years.
Winning isn't the goal.
The goal is to prepare young men for what lies ahead of them. Commitment, teamwork, selflessness, leadership, and empathy — for each other and others.
This award means more to our program than any win. It tells me that we are doing more than just baseball. Our coaching staff is committed to this and being consistent with our approach. Trusting that we are building young men with character and along the way, they are learning the great game of baseball.
We tip our hat to all the parents and mentors who have influence over these young men and share the common goal.

Day one in the books at the Alaska State Baseball tourney. West Valley over South Anchorage 4-2. Been a long time coming since we have won a game at state. Dating back to 2014. Proud of the effort and grind.

2026 Mid-Alaska Conference Champions!!!!
This doesn't happen without the "trust the process" attitude. Proud of these young men for their commitment and dedication. We aren't done yet. On to the Alaska State Baseball tournament June 4-6 in Anchorage.

Being in Fairbanks, AK, its not the baseball capital of the state by any stretch. We are a small community with a small footprint in HS baseball. This year has been quite a winter in Fairbanks. The 3rd coldest on record (29 days of -40 and hasn’t been above 33 degrees since Halloween) and the 2nd or 3rd snowiest on record.
With that type of winter, the thoughts of getting on the baseball field before May is almost impossible, unless we travel outside of Fairbanks. We have a couple of trips planned. One to Sitka, which is about 900 air miles away and can only accessed through the airlines. And another one to Wasilla, which his outside of Anchorage, about 350 miles.
These trips will allow us to prepare for the upcoming season and make sure we are competitive and prepared for our regional and state tournaments toward the end of May.
