Shabbat Shalom!

Our ECLC classes have been having so much fun celebrating the High Holidays! From blowing the shofar to making their own apples and honey, our children have been soaking up the sounds and tastes of Rosh Hashanah all week.

As we head into Shabbat, we're also looking ahead to Yom Kippur this weekend. Wishing our community an easy and meaningful fast.

A reminder that the J will close at 3pm on Sunday, September 20, and remain closed on Monday, September 21 in observance of Yom Kippur.

Meet the Emcee for SunriseWALKS 2026!

We’re so excited to welcome back Shomari Stone as the emcee for the 5th Annual SunriseWALKS!

On Sunday, October 18th at National Harbor, will help bring our community together to walk, celebrate, and raise funds to help make camp and year-round programs possible for Sunrise families.

A familiar face to so many in our community, Shomari brings his energy, heart, and enthusiasm to SunriseWALKS. After previously joining us as our emcee, Shomari visited Sunrise Day Camp–Greater Washington this summer and experienced firsthand the joy and connection that make camp so special for children with cancer and their siblings. We’re excited to have him join us again and help kick off a special morning in support of Sunrise!

Now in the Bodzin Art Gallery: Sacred and Ordinary… Joyful works from Jewish Tradition and Everyday Life By Julie Wohl

Through 50 original works–mixed media, painting, digital illustration and soft sculpture, presents a vision of living Jewish life out loud–connecting sacred imagery, Jewish text and song, and ritual with contemporary depictions of ancient ideas. Amongst the refrains: Shabbat dinner landscapes, trees of life, holy mothers, protective spirits, lonely scapegoats, hamsas, pomegranates, musical instruments and more.

Thank you to the 150 community members who gathered for a spectacular day in the Blue Ridge foothills for our annual fall outing! Presented by Pozez JCC in partnership with Congregation Beth Emeth, Gesher JDS, and Federation, the day was packed with crisp apple picking, festive crafts, joyful shofar blowing, and a special PJ Library story time. From farm animals and wagon rides to warm smiles and sweet cider, Great Country Farms was a terrific host. Thank you to everyone who joined us to connect, celebrate, and welcome the season together!

"Shanah Tovah to Our J Family,

As we gather to welcome the New Year, I find myself reflecting on what makes the Pozez JCC more than just a building. For over 46 years, the Pozez JCC has been a special place where Northern Virginia's Jewish community comes to find each other — where new parents meet other families raising Jewish children, where kids who took their first swim lessons come back with children of their own, and where friendships forged in a preschool classroom, at Camp Achva, or over a game of Mah Jongg still hold decades later.

That's the quiet magic of the J: we don't just host programs, we help build the connections that carry Jewish life forward, one friendship, one family, one generation, at a time. This Rosh Hashanah, we are grateful for every one of you who helps make this community what it is, special.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and there’s no better time to show up for kids with cancer right here in our community.

Our Director, Joellen, shares what this month means to us and how you can make a difference.

SunriseWALKS is coming October 18, and every dollar raised helps make camp and year-round programming possible for children with cancer and their siblings, completely free of charge.
