CERT has become a highly sought after course by citizen groups, school systems and community members to train individuals how to handle emergencies and disaster. The fact is, immediately after a major disaster, each of us will be on our own while Emergency Service Personnel (Fire Department, Paramedics and Hospital, etc,) figure out what happened and how to best to respond.
A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a ready group of organized and trained volunteers that operate at the neighborhood level. They are prepared to be self-sustaining for five days following a large disaster.
When disaster strikes, CERT volunteers spring into action: they take care of themselves, their family, check on neighbors, suppress small fires, conduct light search and rescue and provide emergency medical aid and psychological comfort to their neighbors.
You ask how can I become a part of CERT?
If you live or work in Fairfield, you can participate in the free training program sponsored by the City of Fairfield Fire Department. Participants will receive training, practice and learn how to work as a team in their neighborhoods in the event of an emergency. No prior experience or training is necessary and there is no fee for the training program.

Hold on to your hats and secure your fences! The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and/or high wind warning for all of Solano County starting tonight through early Saturday. Sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts to 65 mph are expected. Watch out for downed power lines, trees and debris in the roadways. Ensure your pets are in a safe and secured area; downed fences often lead to stray animals. Take the time to prepare yourself now in the event of a power outage. Charge your phones📱and put new batteries in your flash lights. 🔦
