You MUST do these 3 stretches if you’re now working from home.
Why?
Because this new (temporary) lifestyle we’ve all found ourselves in can be a lot more sedentary.
The longer you sit, the more certain muscles can tighten up, shorten, or weaken. This can lead to injury and discomfort in the future!
Try out these stretches on your next work day and let me know how you feel:
Lizard Lunge:
Find a wide lunge stance and place your palms on the inside of your front foot.
If you want to move deeper, lower down onto your forearms.
This is great for stretching the psoas, which tightens as we sit.
Floor Scorpion:
Lie face down with your arms out at a T shape.
Begin to roll over onto your right side to open up your chest and shoulders.
Stay there for 10 deep breaths.
Then take it over to your left side.
This will help counter any rounding in the shoulders you get from desk work!
Reclined Twist:
Lie down on your back.
Draw your knees into your chest.
Let your knees fall over to one side and open your arms out to a T shape.
This stretch can assist the lower back and help you ring out the day!
Happy stretching!

3 Reasons why you need more mobility work. 🔥
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mobility is essential because it prepares our bodies for the stress of training. Here’s 3 reasons why you need to increase your mobility. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eliminate aches and pains: Most joint pain is caused from tight and overactive muscles. When one muscle is tight, it pulls on the joint which causes the aches and pains. (Knees, elbows, back, etc.) If we stretch and release those tight muscles you’ll start to feel relief over time while being able to move more freely.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reduce the risk of injury: Any restrictions to a freely moving joint pose a possible risk of injury. This is why a mobility warm up is key.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To build more strength: If we lack mobility it is hard to gain strength in all parts of the movement. Being able to move freely is going to help build more strength from getting all part of the muscle to activate.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try just 10 minutes of mobility work a day. It has been a game changer for me lately.

2020 Update :
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s up y’all ! Hope y’all are going hard this year year. Wanted to drop in and give an update.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This week I started 75 Hard to give myself a mental reset. 75 hard is a mental toughness program created by . For the next 75 days, I’ll be following a nutrition program, doing 2 workouts a day (1 is outside), drinking a gallon of water, reading 10+ pages of a book, and taking a progress picture.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some of y’all know 2019 was rough for me. I lost my father, went through financial struggles, and faced some adversity. I’m taking this time to focus on myself and reset my discipline for 2020. Things are looking up this year already. I’m working 2 jobs and I’m in a good place right now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s going to keep me going all 75 days is my WHY. I’m not just doing this for me. I’m doing it to make my pops proud. Every day I’m committing to the tasks and doing it for him. At the end of the 75 days it will take me out to March 15th. My dads birthday is March 18th. Once I complete this I plan to celebrate in his honor. That’s what will keep me going.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s easy to quit when things get tough. If you don’t have a why for what your doing. You shouldn’t do it at all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Y’all can do anything you put your mind too. I’m going to show y’all that whatever you want you can go get. I’m working 2 job 7 days a week. No days off literally, and still make time for whats important. There’s no excuses this year. Only results. I’m dialed in and ready to crush these next 75 days.

This was the look of defeat after today’s CrossFit WOD, but I loved it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About a month ago I joined a CrossFit gym for the second, no probably third time in my life. I’ve tried CrossFit in the past but never stuck with it for some reason. To be honest, I hated it. Lol. I felt like I was going to die after every workout. I think at one point I paid for 6 months and never went back after the first few weeks. Surprising right ?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I ran from adversity. I did what was comfortable, but the back of my mind I always knew I quit, and gave up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m making sure this time is different. One thing that’s kept me going is knowing that the pain you feel today is temporary. It may suck in the moment, but it’s going to benefit you later.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I see this all the time in fitness. Many people sign up for a gym and never go, or say they are going to make a change come January, yet look the same all year long. If your one of those people let’s do something to change it this year! Learn to embrace adversity and enjoy it while it lasts. It’s only temporary.
