Since 1980, when we introduced our first MAXIM dynamic rope, we always strive to deliver products that are easy to handle, durable, and designed to keep climbers safe. Through corporate sponsorship and our outstanding brand ambassadors on our athlete team, we stay actively involved in the climbing community - supporting groups whose missions are to further the sport of recreational climbing; increase awareness of climbing safety; and to improve access to climbing areas. Chief among these groups are the Access Fund, the American Mountain Guides Association, UIAA, and the Outdoor Industry Association.

The sheath isn’t just protection—it defines how a rope performs. 👇

• Regular (2 over 2) – balanced durability and handling, great abrasion resistance
• TPT Twill Pattern Technology (1 over 1) – tighter and smoother, less rope drag
• Bi-Pattern – visual change to quickly find the midpoint

🔍 Rope Constructions Explained

Not all ropes are built the same—and understanding the construction makes a big difference in performance and safety. 👇

• 3-strand – simple, traditional, and easy to handle
• Single braid – lightweight and flexible
• Double braid – strong and durable with a core + cover setup
• Kernmantle – the standard for climbing ropes
• Str8 Jacket – a variation of kernmantle to reduce sheath slippage

🧗‍♂️ Why climbing ropes use kernmantle construction:
All modern climbing ropes are built with multiple straight cores (kern) and a protective sheath (mantle). The core provides the majority of the strength and energy absorption, while the sheath protects against abrasion and external damage.

👉 Next time you tie in, remember: it’s not just a rope—it’s engineered protection.

Throwback Thursday ... 's first attempt of “Take it or leave it” in Gorge du Verdon did end with a robbed car and a lot of struggles. Years later, in 2019, Mich came back and redpointed the route under an hour with his solo belay device. What a come back! 💪
