For more than a century, NDSU plant breeders have helped shape agriculture in North Dakota and beyond.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Ceres spring wheat variety, which was the first spring wheat bred and released at the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. This landmark variety transformed wheat production through improved rust resistance and yield. Since then, NDSU has released 353 crop varieties across its breeding programs, helping farmers improve productivity, resilience and profitability.

The NDSU B4U cohort had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Shannon Hauf, Senior Vice President and Head of North America, Australia, and New Zealand Product Supply at Bayer Crop Science. Some of our students were also fortunate enough to meet with her again at the Women in Agriculture Breakfast during Grand Farm's Cultivate Conference.

It was inspiring to hear about her career journey and the importance of finding mentors, advocates, and teammates who will support your growth along the way. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from accomplished leaders like Dr. Hauf and for the connections and professional development opportunities made possible through the B4U Mentorship Program.

Thank you, Dr. Hauf, for taking the time to connect with us and share your experiences. We are excited to continue learning and growing through this program.
