Make sure you know how to properly check your archers' eye dominance! Early in the archery lesson it is beneficial to help a new archer determine if his dominant eye and string hand are on the same side.

Matching archery equipment with the dominant eye will allow the archer to shoot with both eyes open. It is highly recommended that an archer shoot with both eyes open. With both eyes open, an archer will have better depth perception (binocular vision), complete peripheral vision, and in some cases improved balance. If an archer shoots a bow opposite the dominant eye (i.e. left-eye dominant person shooting a right-handed bow), the dominant eye must be closed, masked, squinted, or winked to achieve proper form and effective aiming. For a right-handed shooter with a left dominant eye, if the left eye isn’t closed, the archer will miss to the left (opposite for left-handed/right-eyed persons). Some right-handed but left-eyed archer may exhibit improper form by leaning the head over the bowstring to aim with the left eye instead of the right.

For months, we’ve heard from archers, clubs, coaches, and organizations looking for more opportunities to compete and more ways to be part of the IBO.

Today, we’re excited to deliver.

🔴 IBO 3D CHALLENGE — SAME GAME. SAME CHALLENGE.

The IBO 3D Challenge continues with the same competition format that the International Bowhunting Organization created and built — the game thousands of archers have competed in and enjoyed over the years.

6 TARGETS • 5 ARROWS PER TARGET • 30 ARROWS • 300 POINTS POSSIBLE

It’s the IBO 3D Challenge you already know.

We’re not changing the game — we’re creating more opportunities to play it.

🔵 IBO BULLSEYE — NEW GAME. NEW CHALLENGE.

Now, we’re taking that same simple competition concept and introducing an entirely new IBO Bullseye game!

IBO Bullseye uses an 80cm bullseye target face, giving archers a completely different challenge while maintaining the simple, accessible, and easy-to-host format of the IBO 3D Challenge.

ONE RANGE. TWO GAMES.

Two different ways to compete. One program. And one path to Worlds.

Archers will have the opportunity to compete through State Championships, the National Championship, and ultimately the IBO World Championship.

Congratulations to one of our archers on his State Fair Grand Champion!

🏆 DAKOTA COUNTY HAS A STATE FAIR GRAND CHAMPION!

To understand how huge this is, you have to look at the numbers. Just qualifying to bring livestock to the Great Minnesota Get-Together is a huge feat. Young exhibitors first have to earn a trip through county 4-H competition, with only about 3,000 livestock spots at the Minnesota State Fair.

Then came Dakota County’s own Cooper Wagner.

Cooper didn’t just make it to the State Fair. His market dairy/meat goat was named GRAND CHAMPION!

That purple banner represents months of early mornings, late nights, feeding, grooming, training and dedication, followed by competition against some of the very best young livestock exhibitors in Minnesota.

Congratulations to Cooper on this extraordinary achievement! And a special shout-out to his sponsor, Long Cheng Hmong Meats of South St. Paul, for supporting local 4-Hers.
