I am asking Facebook AGAIN to please remove this page, as Lone Star FSC is no longer an entity!

Yesterday we got Habitat for Humanity to pick up the lumber and appliances in the POD. Now we need a 501 C3 that can use our hospitality items.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you know of a 501c3 organization who could use lumber from judge's platform and hospitality items, and they are willing to pick it up at the POD, we will donate the contents to them. Call me @ 214.914.0903 or email [email protected]

We need to clear the POD which is full of competition needed items. First I need an inventory and then a way to dispose to any 501 C 3 group.Open to any ideas and suggestions.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Lone Star FSC will end its services as a US Figure Skating Club and a member of U.S. Figure Skating as of July 1, 2022. We could no longer staff the club with the necessary officers and board members. We also could not host our annual event for lack of volunteers. It seems this is the beginning of a new era and skating is inevitably changing with the times. It has been an honor serving as an administrator in the organization off and on over almost fifty years, and I wish everyone well and thank you for your services to the sport itself.

The USFS website is listing all memberships ending on 6.30.2021 but if you have renewed they will reset to 2022 on July 1. So do not be concerned.

Membership opens for the USFS 2021-22 year tomorrow. You can sign up through Entryeeze. As of now we are on inactive status but that in no way changes your ability to test or compete as it gives you full USFS membership rights as members of Lone Star FSC. It means only that as of now we will not be hosting any test sessions or competitions.

SKATER OF THE YEAR

Riley who has spent her entire skating career representing Lone Star Figure Skating Club has been recognized by US Figure Skating this year as a Graduating Senior Gold Level recipient. Even in this year of the pandemic, she has passed her Senior Free Skate test adding that gold medal to her Senior Moves in the Field which she passed before the world was forced to shut down. She also finished high school with the highest honors, excelled in school sports, and has been awarded an ROTC scholarship. She will attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where she will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. We are all so proud of her and wish her exciting adventures and the best of luck in all the new worlds she's about to embark upon. Congratulations Riley! This is just the beginning!

Congratulations to VALERIE DOTY and McKENZIE BROUK , the Lone Star FSC recipients of the 2020 USFS GET UP! Award. I am posting in the following two posts the recognition letters sent to them along with the USFS Certificate and a GET UP Medal. I know they would appreciate hearing from you. Normally this would have been read to the skaters and the awards handed to them at a club General Meeting but in the time of Covid, the awards have been mailed to them and posting this will have to be the next best thing,

Valerie Doty

Valerie Doty, a longtime member of Lone Star Figure Skating Club and a USFS Sectional Announcer has been presented this Get Up Award for her persistence in light of many set-backs.

She has always willingly volunteered for our competitions and has always been a friend to those competing skaters; ever diligent by making sure she articulates clearly and gets names correct. She has been one of the unsung heroes in making competitions run smoothly and on time!

Having lost her retirement money in a deal that went awry, she could have given up. As it was related to the skating world, she could have pulled away from her volunteer work and the good she has done for skaters, clubs, judges and other officials.

She did not, she faced the world with a smile, got back up, looked for new employment, found a job she enjoys and continues to give to skaters and skating with a cheery smile and an open heart. We applaud her receiving this award and are proud that she has been one of our family. We have been blessed to have her in our midst.
Congratulations Valerie! We are so proud of you!
