🥋 Ever wondered what an adult class at Apex Jiu-Jitsu looks like?
We’ve had quite a few people ask, “What do you guys actually do during class?” So here’s a rundown of what our Wednesday night adult classes look like — and what we have planned for the rest of the year!
🔥 How class starts:
We kick things off with 2 warm-up live rolls. The goal isn’t to hunt for submissions or “win” the round. It’s about getting the body moving, getting warmed up, and getting your mind ready to train.
🥋 Technique & Drilling:
After warming up, we focus on the position or technique of the night. We’ll break it down, answer questions, partner up, and spend time drilling the techniques so everyone gets plenty of reps.
💪 Live Situational & Competition Rounds:
We finish practice with live rolls, including competition-style rounds and situational rounds.
Coach Steven is big on situational training because it forces you to work through positions you may not be comfortable in. The goal isn’t just to let you play your favorite game or constantly go for what you already do best — we want you to grow as a grappler.
📅 Wednesday Night Focus — Remainder of 2026
🔴 September — Side Control
Learn how to control, escape, attack, and defend from one of the most important positions in Jiu-Jitsu.
⚫ October — All Offense
Push the pace. Hunt for submissions. Learn to attack quickly and aggressively.
🔴 November — No-Gi
Time to ditch the gi and work on our No-Gi game!
⚫ December — Defense December
Finish the year by focusing on surviving, escaping, defending submissions, and becoming harder to break.
Whether you’re brand new to Jiu-Jitsu or you’ve been training for years, there’s always something to work on.
