Today's Momorie I go back to a fun student Emily. Emily made her own green Gi pants. Emily helped me teach kids whenever she could. We had a lot of fun. Ive been fortunate that the WSMA has always had great female students. Some schools have very few, but we have been able to keep our school close to 50-50 most years.

Today's memory is a passing the torch memory. Here Sensei DC Tenney is tying on MJ Tenney orange belt. I had gone to second shift and Sensei Dc was the primary instructor for the dojo. As I look through Memories, I keep stopping at this picture of a young sensei DC. This picture is the martial artist I knew he would become peaking through. The picture is slightly off focus, he isn't in full uniform, But he has that look of focused determination. That is what I still see from him. Yes hebcan be a good, yes he would literally lick his opponent to get them to release him so could get a better hold, but he was determined.

On this Friends Friyaay Memory, I found a time warp to one of the first visits from long time friend of the WSMA Philip Lewis . Soke Lewis has been a friend, mentor, and Teacher of mine for a long time. He has made so many trips to Iowa to train me and our students. Always a good time.
