BYC had an incredible day out at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center with our friends from Rock Creek Velo and some great coaching from Dave, Hannah, and the awesome crew from BSR MUSTANGS 🐎 Mustangs.
If you haven’t made it out for some high speed laps in the velodrome, you are missing out! Now just need to plan a field trip back up there to catch some Friday Night Under the Lights action…

There are openings this Sunday (Fathers Day) for a ‘Try the Track’ session at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Pa. being hosted by Baltimore Youth Cycling. The session starts at noon and runs 2.5-3 hours and includes closed track time, professional coaching and rental track bikes. Cost is $40 and you do not have to be a junior. We are opening up the slots to all MABRA racers. If interested contact us and we will provide you with the ‘private’ BikeReg link.

We always strive for safety out on the roads but sometimes crashes are just unavoidable. Thankfully this wasn’t caused by a distracted driver. Descending at 35 mph, Ryder N. hit a patch of loose gravel. He hit the deck hard and slid out of sight under a guardrail. His training partner took several minutes to find him. Not to worry, no broken bones or head injuries. Don’t tell us that kids these days are ‘soft’! Fell asleep reading his current favorite book about bike racing.
“CX can never start too soon.”
-- Jay Lazar
Editor’s note: we don’t know if Jay meant the age of the rider (as we saw a bunch of future BYC-ers out enjoying music and bikes at Stoney Run Park tonight), or the fact that it is still May…but either way, we think he’s right.
COACH MIKE’S BIRTHDAY!
Great BYC Social ride (gorgeous weather too!) at BWI where we took some time to appreciate BYC Coach and President Mike Marinaro. There are no words that adequately capture all that he’s done for the club over the years so we won’t even try. We will stick with HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
(We are better at riding bikes than we are at singing…)
