Snuck down to Santee one last time before the cutoff trying to get ready for the Kayak Series coming up at the end of the month. During which I came away with another monster bass, this time "only" a 23" 😆
Really looking forward to the week and my stay at ! If y'all haven't booked a place yet definitely give Chris a call and get booked! Santee is fishing really well and it's going to be a slugfest out there!
I've also been logging all my fish on the app so I can figure out what the best patterns and areas have been. A super cool FREE app currently that y'all should check out!

One and a half days left of practice for and we're getting it dialed in!

Ran down to do a little pre practice for the Kayak series on Santee with my Autopilot and found myself a grown one. The second longest bass I've ever caught at 24.25"! I got to watch her eat and doubted setting the hook because it took me a second to process seeing a bass that big eat my jig 😂
Huge shout out to for having the best campsite on the lake too and easily the nicest place I've stayed at traveling around the country fishing! If y'all are planning on coming down for the BMKS or just a trip down to Santee in general be sure to check them out!

Wrapped up the series opener for down on the Harris Chain of lakes with a solid 3rd place finish! The caliber of anglers that show out at these events makes even a top 10 a great finish and I'm glad and I could pull it off.
The series is definitely an interesting way to fish and brings a different strategy out than the usual catch 5 a day. Being able to rely on your teammate and vice versa to help each other out definitely puts some stress on and takes some off at the same time! On top of the fishing it was really cool to see everyone out there. Fishing can be a solitary sport sometimes, but seeing wives fishing with their husbands and fathers with daughters and many more just brought out a different feel than some other tournaments. No more leaving people at the dock for 8hrs, they can come with and even carry you sometimes 😂 looking at you

There you have it, the top 3 baits that I used during the Kayak Series on the Kissimmee chain!

Day 1
Was entirely the Snare 50 and the Jackhammer with a custom skirt and a Shindo 6.0 trailer. I had located a group of fish earlier in practice and on tournament morning saw them on my sidescan pretty heavily grouped up. I set up on my waypoint and caught 92" in about 30 minutes to get the day rolling before the school broke up. I ended up pulling later in the day on the chatterbait to work up to 94" on day 1

Day 2
I rolled straight to the waypoint and pulled 94" in 22 minutes using the chatterbait before the school broke up and scattered on me. After fishing for a while longer and noticing that the wind had died off and the sun was beating on the shallow water I picked up the 1.5oz punch rig and ran my Autopilot straight into the grass mats and went to work on the reed mats that had blown up shallow thinking that the big females could be under them sunning themselves. This let me cull up two more times with an 18" and a 20" to get my day two total to 96.75". Good enough for a second place finish and an automatic qualification into the championship this fall!

Little sneak peek of one of the baits I used this weekend in the Kayak Series on Kissimmee. A handful of you know what it is, and it's been a lot of work to get it working. It may seem pretty normal but there are some subtle changes that I made to up my confidence in it!
