Ozark Valley Triathlon

One of the most common race week questions is: **Can I wear a wetsuit?** 🏊‍♂️

The answer depends on the water temperature on race day. Here are the official guidelines:

**Mandatory - 60.6° F and below**
**Permitted - Up to 78° F**
**Allowed 78.1° F - 83.9 F**
**Forbidden - 84° F and above**

*Participants in a non-competitive race or wave are not eligible to have their results submitted for rankings.*

**Participants who choose to wear a wetsuit in a competitive non-National Event Age Group race when the water temperature exceeds 78 F are not eligible to have their results submitted for rankings or Age Group Awards.**

We'll monitor water temperatures leading up to race weekend and keep everyone updated. Stay tuned for race week updates!

We’re incredibly grateful that even during Lake Wedington’s closure, the Ozark Valley Triathlon has been one of the few events allowed to continue using this special place. 🏞️

For so many of us, Lake Wedington is more than just a venue. It’s a hidden Ozark gem filled with memories, adventure, and community. Seeing the park open again, even for one day, is exciting and encouraging.

If you’ve never experienced Lake Wedington, this is a perfect chance to visit, enjoy the outdoors, and show support for bringing this park fully back to life. Come paddle, fish, picnic, explore, and help remind people how valuable this place truly is.

Lake Wedington in the Ozark National Forest near Siloam Springs and Fayetteville will reopen for one day for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, May 30, from 10a-7p.

The main parking lot, campgrounds, cabins, and recreation area have been closed since 2019, making this one-day reopening a rare chance to experience the space again.

Swimming is not yet approved pending water testing closer to the date, but kayaking and fishing are confirmed. Guests can bring their own gear or rent kayaks from Gypsy Camp & Canoe, and pack a picnic for the day.
