FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS ARE BACK IN VAQUERO COUNTRY AND IT'S YOUTH NIGHT!

This Friday, the Fernley Vaqueros return HOME to take on the Lowry Buckaroos in an exciting Northern Nevada showdown!

But this Friday is about more than just football. It's about TRADITION, COMMUNITY, BROTHERHOOD, AND THE FUTURE OF VAQUERO FOOTBALL, CHEER, AND DANCE!

We're excited to welcome our youth football players, cheerleaders, and dance camp participants as they get the opportunity to experience Friday Night Lights alongside our high school athletes!

IMPORTANT YOUTH NIGHT INFORMATION PLEASE READ!

We want to make this an unforgettable experience for all of our future Vaqueros! To ensure everything runs smoothly, please review the following information.

All participants MUST be dressed in their respective required attire for the event:

- Youth Football Players: Must wear their youth football jerseys.

- Youth Cheerleaders: Must wear their cheer outfits.

- Dance Camp Participants: Must wear their designated, required dance camp attire for the event.

Proper attire is required for participation in the pregame runout and human tunnel!

- ARRIVAL & MEETING LOCATION: 6:25–6:30 PM

All participants MUST report to the SOUTH END ZONE (SCOREBOARD SIDE) prior to the conclusion of the JV game, approximately 6:25–6:30 PM.

Please be on time! We want every participant to have the opportunity to be part of this special moment!

PREGAME RUNOUT & HUMAN TUNNEL: APPROXIMATELY 6:40–6:45 PM

Our youth football players, cheerleaders, and dance camp participants will help create an ELECTRIC atmosphere by forming a human tunnel to welcome the Varsity Vaqueros onto the field!

AFTER THE RUNOUT:

- Youth Football Players: Once the runout and human tunnel are complete, all youth football players must exit the playing field.

- Cheerleaders & Dance Camp Participants: Following the runout, all cheerleaders and dance camp members must report directly to the HOME SIDELINE, where they will receive detailed instructions for the remainder of their participation.

ONE COMMUNITY. ONE PROGRAM. ONE VAQUERO FAMILY.

The young athletes running onto that field Friday night are the future of our program. Someday, they'll be the ones wearing the orange and black, representing their community, and carrying on the proud traditions of Fernley Football.

The next generation of Vaqueros starts HERE!

We encourage our entire community to pack the stands, bring the noise, and help us create an atmosphere these young athletes will never forget!

LET'S PACK THE HOUSE, CELEBRATE OUR FUTURE, AND DEFEND OUR HOME TURF!

For decades, Fernley and Truckee have lined up across from one another and delivered the kind of football games people remember. Hard hits. Momentum swings. Packed sidelines. Big plays. Heartbreak. Celebration. And four quarters where every single yard has to be earned. Different generations have worn the uniforms, but the intensity of this matchup has never changed. When the Vaqueros and Wolverines meet, history walks onto the field with them.

Kickoff is set for 4:30pm (JV) and 7:00pm (Varsity).

There are some nights that mean more than football.

This Friday, under the lights at Fernley High School, the Vaqueros will have the privilege of taking the field on a day that carries tremendous meaning across our country , September 11th. We will honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the strength and unity that followed. As a steady reminder that we will never forget.

The buzz will be real, and the energy will be contagious, as we reveal our NEW GRAND Entrance with Harleys leading the team out onto the field, The famous Vaquero cannon firing, while being lead by our theme song “Enter Sandman”, which ultimately will set the stage for our players as they run into one of the most electric homecoming atmospheres we’ve ever created at FHS!

This is more than a Homecoming Game. It’s an opportunity for our young men to compete together, represent Fernley, and play the game they love on a day that reminds us that some things are bigger than ourselves.

Bring the family. Wear your orange, black, red, white & blue. Be loud. Be proud. And help us pack the stands as the Vaqueros finally come home for their first home game in 4 weeks.

The Vaqueros are back on the road this Friday as we head to Sparks High School for Week 4 which is our fourth straight week traveling away from home.

Over the course of these four road trips, our team will have logged approximately 1,114 total miles traveled between Fernley, Damonte Ranch, Bishop, Elko, Sparks, and back home again.

That means four straight weeks of long bus rides, unfamiliar environments, late nights, recovery, practice, preparation and then doing it all over again.

What this group has been able to handle week in and week out is impressive, and to say the least no easy task for high school student athletes when you think about the amount and time they spent traveling to go and compete at a high level.

It’s just another opportunity for the vaqueros to represent Fernley wherever the road takes us.

Let’s get to 1-0. Go Vaqueros!

Congratulations to FHS Class of 2025 alum Riley McCullar on earning a spot on the Montana Western travel roster as a TRUE FRESHMAN!

That title carries weight. Riley stepped directly from high school football into the college game without a redshirt year and has already earned enough trust from his coaches to travel and be ready to contribute.

College football is a different world, faster practices, bigger and more experienced players, complex schemes, and competition at every position. As a freshman, you’re battling sophomores, juniors, seniors, transfers, and returning players for limited opportunities.

Travel roster spots are earned, not given. For a true freshman to secure one speaks volumes about his preparation, toughness, work ethic, and ability.

Montana western is currently a Top 25 team in the country for the NAIA and they compete in one of the hardest conferences to win in, known as the Frontier Conference.

Riley is showing our current Vaqueros exactly what’s possible when you continue putting in the work.

Keep earning it, Riley. Your hometown is watching. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!

Once a Vaquero, Always a Vaquero.
