It's Mountain Bike Association of Arizona enduro season again! Once again the Masters 50+ class has no slouches, making every second count. I was happy to have all clean runs, just a few hiccups here and there, taking 3rd on the gnarly stages at Sunrise Park Resort.

I felt like I could have worked more on the last two stages, but I always think that *after* the race. During the race, I'm totally gassed, so I'll have to figure out how to resolve that.πŸ˜†

Thanks to:
Specialized Bicycle Components for making a rad bike
kaliprotectives and 7iDP for protection
MAGURA Bicycle for my favorite stoppers
Scorpion MTB for a fun community
Bike Instructor Certification Program for the skills
Ken Bennett and Sabrina Fiesel Koogler for the rad photos

Had a good time this past weekend working on jumping fundamentals with some of the Scorpion MTB enduro rippers.

Some of these kids were already comfortable getting some air time, but we challenged them to slow things down and focus on technique, so when the speeds get higher and the jumps bigger, they have the tools to succeed.

I'm 6'2" with long arms and legs. To get in a really low Ready Position, I have to crouch lower than I think I already am.

When this photo was taken, I thought I was in a pretty good low Ready Position, but the camera doesn't lie. Do I really need to be lower than this for this corner? Maybe, maybe not.

But the point is, what you *think* you're doing and what you really *are* doing, can sometimes be quite different. Has this ever happened to you?

I'm pretty happy with the counter-balancing twist with my hips though.πŸ™‚

Catching up here on past summer shenanigans!

Did a last minute sign up for my first downhill race in 20ish years at Sunrise Park Resort AZ several weeks ago. There were three other Masters 50+ racers. I didn't win, but I didn't come in last nor crash, so that was nice. I wasn't on a legit DH bike, but still had a blast.

It was interesting listening to my boys and their fellow racers, strategizing which lines to take to be successful.

I, on the other hand, was strategizing which lines to take that wouldn't injure me. 😁 As evidence, my older son and I were racing on the exact same bike, same course, and he solidly beat me by 16 seconds. After recovering from a string of violent crashes last year, I was totally okay with this. πŸ˜‰

Had a blast working with the mighty and powerful on some skills a couple weeks ago. She has a unique talent in being able to take in feedback and quickly turn it into results. 🀘

Using .bike instruction techniques, we improved cornering, climbing, roll downs and drops.

A single clinic typically won't allow you to master a skill, but now she can practice with intent.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to host Kids Camp again.

This is a great option for Mom or Dad who want to race. We keep the kids engaged with bike games and other shenanigans.

This year it was a little warm, so we had a couple of sq**rt gun fights added to the curriculum to help keep campers cool. They enjoyed my younger son Bryson so much that they chased him around with the cooler, trying to soak him. πŸ˜†

I came up with three reasons why you shouldn't attend the .bike Coaches Convention, March 27-29th at . If you're on the fence, maybe this will help you decide not to go. πŸ˜‰
