Covid Buck! Carrie was choking with Covid when this December hunt came around. This was right before Covid was announced to the world. She had been sick and coughing bad for over a month and all the doctors tests couldn't diagnose what was wrong with her.
We were at home in the afternoon when our son Weston called us and said he had found a big buck rutting a doe. He was hunting himself and had been on a hike in rough country for several hours when he came across the buck and doe. He decided to pass on the buck. After a while the buck and doe started heading down the mountain closer to the road. That's when Weston decided to call us. He had a good idea of where the deer were headed and thought it possible for his sick Mother to reach the area. If he could keep an eye on them we would have a chance to intercept them.
Carrie agreed to give it a shot, so we loaded up, drove to the area, grabbed our gear, and began hiking in. The hike was uphill and Carrie was already coughing bad before we left the truck. As we got close to the area we thought the deer were headed, Carrie knocked an arrow and we stopped to help her catch her breath. Weston contacted us to say that he could no longer see the deer, but that he was tracking them and felt they were still headed our way.
