🌟COACH SPOTLIGHT🌟

Today, we are highlighting Coach Taylor, who also serves as a Director at Ascent. Taylor will be running our Middle Blockers Clinic! 🧡

Taylor started playing volleyball at 13 and quickly excelled, becoming a four-year starter and letterwinner in high school while playing setter, outside hitter, and middle blocker. In 2010, she earned the 2A Metro Player of the Year award. From 2011 to 2015, Taylor played at Northern Arizona University on a Division I scholarship, transitioning from outside hitter to middle blocker during her junior and senior years.

She holds several records in NAU volleyball history, including:
• 5th highest block average (0.972 per set)
• 6th highest total block solos (45)
• 7th highest total blocks (246)

In 2014, Taylor led the team in hitting percentage (.299), blocks, and block average, earning a spot on the Lumberjack Classic All-Tournament Team. She was also a four-time All-Big Sky Academic Honoree and Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete.

Taylor began coaching in 2011 with Northern Arizona Juniors and, after graduating, joined Mountain View High School as an assistant coach. From 2017 to 2020, she served as head coach for both the boys’ and girls’ junior varsity teams, leading the boys to top rankings in their section and the girls to a 2019 sectional title. In 2019, she achieved a 15-2 record with the JV boys and a 12-5 record with the JV girls.

Since 2020, Taylor has coached with Ascent Volleyball Club in Flagstaff, where she enjoys developing players’ skills and leadership. In 2021, her 15 Black team earned 3rd place in the 15 Liberty Division at Red Rock Rave. In 2023, she became Ascent’s Assistant Director, with dreams of launching a boys’ volleyball program in Flagstaff. 🌟❤️‍🔥

🌟COACH SPOTLIGHT🌟

Today, we are highlighting Coach Lisa! Coach Lisa was a standout middle blocker at Stanford University, where she earned Academic All-American honors, competed in multiple NCAA Final Fours, and played in the NCAA Division I National Championship. Before college, she was a First Team All-League player, League Champion, and CIF Finalist at Laguna Beach High School. She also competed at the national level in beach volleyball for over a decade, earning a AAA beach rating.

Her coaching experience spans decades at both the high school and club levels. She has led teams to CIF Semifinals and Quarterfinals, was named the Orange County Register Coach of the Year, and has coached athletes from beginner to elite levels across Southern California and Arizona. Throughout her club coaching career, she has developed championship-winning teams, including GJNC Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists, and most recently helped lead Ascent teams to strong finishes at national qualifiers.

In addition to coaching teams, Lisa has served as a coach and instructor at Stanford Volleyball Camps, Long Beach State Advanced Setter Camp, Gold Medal Squared Clinics, USA Volleyball High Performance Tryouts, and numerous other elite training programs.

Coach Lisa’s knowledge, passion, and commitment to developing athletes make her a valuable part of the Ascent family.

🌟COACH SPOTLIGHT!🌟

We are excited to highlight Coach Kelci who will be running our Serve & Pass Clinic.

Born and raised on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i, Kelci’s passion for volleyball began early, inspired by watching the University of Hawai‘i Women’s volleyball team and attending their summer camps. She started playing at age 6 in an outdoor co-ed league and transitioned to competitive indoor club volleyball at eight, earning three bids to nationals. By ten, she began competing in beach volleyball tournaments, earning a bronze medal at a 16U AAU sand event in 2006.

In high school, Kelci played varsity all four years at Kamehameha Schools, a highly competitive Division I program. As a setter, she helped secure two division conference titles and three state championships, earning Hawai‘i’s All-State Setter title in 2009.

Kelci continued her career at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt), an NCAA Division II school, from 2012–2015, playing as both a setter and libero/DS. She ranked among the top five servers in her conference. Today, she stays active in competitive indoor and beach leagues, often traveling for tournaments.

Kelci began coaching during college, running summer skills camps and volunteering with the men’s club team. Currently, she’s entering her fifth season as a coach with Ascent Volleyball Club. She especially loves working with younger athletes and seeing their quick development.
