MAHPC had the privilege of co-presenting with UNC-Pardee this week concerning best practices and lessons learned during a hospital fire at the NC Disaster Symposium in Winston Salem.

We are thrilled to see this elusive course offered in our region. This is a great opportunity for any Public Information Officers to gain more training and experience. Be sure to register before the class fills up!

This advanced level Public Information Officer course is the fourth in the public information training series. It teaches participants additional skills for use during escalating incidents, including strategic communications and incident action planning as it relates to Joint Information Center (JIC) operations.

This a reminder to register to join the SMAT/MRC meeting next Tuesday, May 16 at 6pm. We will be covering a refresher in WMDs, best practices in the healthcare sector, and MAHPC’s SMAT's Decon Capabilities.

An SMAT initial training has been scheduled for June 22 for prospective members and those wanting a refresher.

Join us November 15 or 16 for our Active Shooter Exercise Development Workshop at Blue Ridge Community College. Past Active shooter events have proven the need for realistic exercises delivered in the community. This course answers the need by providing a train-the-trainer course on how to design and deliver a Tabletop exercise (TTX). This course will also provide template materials needed to deliver five different TTXs, with one of the five TTXs delivered in the afternoon of the training day.
