What first brought you to yoga and how has your practice evolved over time?
I found yoga as a teenager after moving to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. Everything felt new, and I was experiencing a lot of anxiety while trying to adjust and find my place. Yoga became a grounding space for me during that time. My practice has evolved so much over the years, especially after becoming a teacher. I used to think yoga was something you do and then move on from. But now I see it more as something you experience and feel, whether I’m practicing an arm balance, lying in Savasana, or simply taking a few conscious breaths. These days, my practice is really about giving myself what I need on any given day. Sometimes that’s a full two-hour practice, and sometimes it’s just one pose, meditation, or a few quiet moments of breathing.
How would you describe your teaching style?
My teaching style is simple, grounded, and straightforward. I’m not much of a talker, and I’m not afraid of a little silence in class. I like creating space for people to slow down, listen inward, and have their own experience. I also try to give as much personal attention as I can, and I bring a hands-on approach whenever it feels appropriate and supportive.
What’s something yoga has taught you off the mat?
That it’s okay to be uncomfortable sometimes, and consistency and patience are part of the journey.

What first brought you to yoga and how has your practice evolved over time?
I didn’t come to yoga through movement at all, I was actually drawn in through philosophy—the questions it asks about suffering, awareness, and what it means to live with intention. When I was 16, I happened across a copy of “The Yamas & Niyamas” by Deborah Adele in a little free library. I remember reading and feeling like something very old and true was quietly rearranging how I saw my life. At the time, I wasn’t looking for a physical practice; I was following curiosity and looking for clarity.
After finishing the book, I knew I had to begin practicing physical asana. I started doing a Yoga with Adrienne video first thing every morning—nothing elaborate, just a simple way to stay consistent and embody what I’d been reading. Over time, that morning rhythm became non-negotiable. It wasn’t about discipline in a rigid sense; it was more like returning home to my center each day before stepping into the world.
In the early years, there was still a subtle striving—wanting to “get better,” to understand more, to refine the shapes. But I noticed a positive shift through all facets of my life, and the longer I’ve practiced, the more the edges have softened. The evolution hasn’t been about adding complexity; it’s been about subtracting noise. The poses became less performative and more like conversations with my body and spirit. Breath became the teacher.
Twelve years later, teaching came naturally out of that shift. Not from a place of having mastered anything, but from wanting to deepen my own practice/understanding, and recognizing how powerful it is to hold space for people to listen inward in a world that constantly pulls them outward.
My practice now feels quieter, more spacious. Some mornings are strong and fluid, others are slow and barely moving. Both feel equally complete. If anything, yoga has become less something I do and more something I live. It continues to meet me differently as life changes, but that original thread—the philosophical inquiry, the curiosity about being—that has never left.

weekend immersion with Tish
February 19-21, 2027
Wisdom of the Ancients
Living the Teachings
Embodying the Path
This weekend immersion is an invitation to sit at the feet of the great teachings of yoga — not as distant philosophy, but as living wisdom meant to be contemplated, questioned, and embodied.
Together, we will enter into a devotional and inquiry-based study of some of the most influential yogic texts:
The Upanishads
The Bhagavad Gita
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
The Hatha Yoga Pradipika
These texts form the philosophical and spiritual roots of the yoga tradition — they are mirrors for the inner journey.
This Immersion is contemplative, devotional, and inquiry-based.
Each session will weave together:
• Guided study and contextual understanding
• Group discussion and shared reflection
• Journaling and personal inquiry
• Meditation and subtle embodied practices
• Long slow deep asana practices
This is a sacred space to listen deeply. To question. To soften into not-knowing.
To let the teachings work on you.
We approach these texts with humility and reverence, and an intention for integration.
