If your neck hurts when doing certain exercises, you can modify your posture and position so you can get the benefit without the pain.
For example, a band pull-apart is a great exercise for your upper back and shoulders. If doing it seated or standing causes your neck to tense up or become uncomfortable, try doing it lying on your back instead.
Sometimes a simple change in position is all it takes.
You donโt have to push through discomfort. You also donโt have to give up on an exercise you want to do.
Your body may simply need a different setup.
As we get older, learning how to modify an exercise to work with your body can make strength training more comfortable, effective, and sustainable.
