WSO meet yesterday went good on one end and got a bit rushed on the second end with my CJ’s. Training has been a matter of going through the motions lately with hurricane shock of having our town turned inside out and hearing so many horrible stories. I’m grateful to be here with friends. My perspective has changed tremendously since this storm. I’ve seen what love can do when your world suddenly changes for the worse. The weightlifting world reminds me of that constantly. The support and love is everywhere. Thank you to my coach Will Fleming for just being my coach and friend. Thank you to Jarrod for helping me improve and always watching over me. And to new friends that I meet along the way. A 1 kg pr on my sn**ch. The first CJ was called bad. Maybe all 3 were bad but I got the last one with a good call. .wl

Beautiful day for a paddle. Can you see the egrets at the top of the trees? There were 4 flying together. We don’t see them often here.

In Reno at the masters national weightlifting meet. Came thinking maybe a bronze and this happened. 6 for 6 feels so good. Never underestimate what you can do. USA weightlifting put up a great venue for us. Top notch. Big shout out to Russel Jordan with NorCal weightlifting for getting me through this event. He made it so much fun for for me. Gold in sn**ch, silver in CJ and gold in the total. Not a pr day for me but you have to play the game sometimes to get a medal. So much fun. Grateful for my great coaches and .t.nobbe_ .wl

Dated picture of me heading up to the top of squaw valley where we would start our mountain bike race at 8500 feet. I traveled with a group of guys when I raced through the country on my mtb. Looking back I wish I had appreciated how fit I was in my 30’s instead of always comparing myself to how fast I wasn’t to those who were faster. This race sticks in mind. The next picture is of me coming out of the water in the Santa Cruz triathlon. I ran my best 10k on this day. The week after this I swam the pier to pier race for 6 miles. I’m in a totally different sport now with weightlifting. The difference is my perspective now, appreciating going into an event feeling strong and healthy. I’ve never stopped working hard. It’s just weird getting older. For those that are out here and still competing or working towards a goal (whether it’s lifting, riding, running or whatever you love) the work and dedication we put in is just as hard as any of the best out there. Appreciate that about yourself and never stop striving to make gains. Don’t compare now to then either. There’s always a way to find a new goal and it’s fun to achieve that and celebrate it. .wl

Cool that the National women’s in sports day is recognized. I was on the first women’s softball team in our high school. We played basketball in little dresses when I was a freshman. We’ve come a long way with so many talented and strong women in sport. Go out and find your boundaries.

We stayed and had a great time in Wilmington NC. What a fun city this is. Managed to have one nice day out on the water for 6 miles of paddling, walked along the beach with the dolphins feeding along side of us, went out and enjoyed the river walk at night and had a blast here. The dogs had most fun of all. Thanks Wilmington for hosting the American open finals.

Got lucky with a nice day for a paddle on cape fear river. Nothing like watching a cargo ship come up from behind you. We exited quickly when we saw how close it was. While they look like they’re not throwing a wake, they draw a lot of water and it moves under you swiftly back and forth. Awesome paddle.

I’m always grateful to be able to do the things I love. Not my best lifting total but we did things a little different and I attempted heavier weights for myself today. I’ll take the total with 4 out of 6 [email protected] Big shout out to .t.nobbe_ for coaching me through the meet and to for making me a better lifter and all around stronger athlete.
