🏀 Winter Youth Basketball League Registration Is Open! 🏀

Looking for the right basketball league to help your K–5th grade player take their game to the next level this winter?

We offer two different 12-week league experiences, each uniquely designed for where your player is in their development.

🏫 K/1st & 2nd/3rd — Player Development Program (PDP) League
Focused on learning and developing the fundamentals for players of all skill levels.

🎓 4th/5th — The Academy League
For experienced players ready to take the next step up from instructional/rec basketball. If your player has played in our PDP (K–3rd), Little Colonels, Little Pioneers, SOAS, G-League, or a similar program, this is the perfect next step for them!

⛹️‍♀️ Girls-only team options available in both 2nd/3rd and 4th/5th.

🖊️ Individual registration — no tryouts! Players can also sign up together as teams.

⛹️ 12 Team Training Sessions
Trainings are designed and led by David McFarland and McFarland Basketball staff, with assistance from each team’s coaches. Trainings focus on developing both individual and team offensive & defensive fundamentals.

🗓️ October 26 – February 9
12-week season with time off for Thanksgiving and winter break.

📍 Team Trainings: Mondays or Wednesdays at St. Henry Athletic Complex (SHAC) in Florence, KY

🏀 Games: Saturdays at Next Level Academy in Wilder, KY

🔥 TRYOUT PREP (6th-9th Grade)
Tryouts will be here before you know it. These sessions are designed for experienced players preparing for team tryouts in October.

Players will work on the skills that coaches will evaluate them on at tryouts — including ball handling, finishing, shooting, passing, defense, rebounding, decision-making, and the important intangibles that can separate players during evaluations.

🎯 SHOOTING COURSES (3rd-12th Grade)
Great shooters aren't just getting up more shots — they're developing the right habits.

Our Shooting Foundation Courses give players a blueprint for becoming more consistent shooters, with:

🎥 Individual video analysis of their shot
📺 Film breakdown of elite shooters like Steph Curry, Devin Booker & Caitlin Clark
🏀 Purposeful small-group drill work
📝 Detailed instruction and feedback
🧭 Guidance on exactly what to continue working on at home

Players typically want to begin with Shooting Course 1, regardless of age, experience, or talent level, before progressing through the shooting program. Players placed in small groups within each class (High School, Middle, and Elementary).

Skills Clinics are designed to maximize player development by providing differentiated fundamental skill instruction, breakdown drills, and small-sided games to improve their all-around game. Rookie groups are for players just starting out or limited experience. Skills (2nd-5th) groups are for players with experience and comfortable with introductory skills.

We offer 3 progressive levels (Stationary, Catch & Shoot, and Game Situations) geared toward elementary, middle, and high school players who are serious about improving their shot.

We'll check it out and let you know which class would be the best fit! For most players, course 1 is the best place to start.

Tryout Prep classes are for experienced players only as we continue to fine-tune and expand their skill set to prepare them for their upcoming team tryouts in October. 🏀Shooting Foundation Courses
Does your player want to make shots more consistently and become an elite shooter? We have the solution for you. Our Shooting Foundation classes will give your player the blueprint and feedback to become the best shooter on the floor!

- Minimum 3rd Grade: Players placed in smaller groups based on grade within each class (e.g. High School, Middle, 3rd-5th)
- Shooting courses are sequential (Level 1 before Level 2, etc.). All players should start with Course 1 regardless of age, experience, or talent level.
- Already Taken a Course Level = Can sign up take it again to get more guidance and continue working towards mastering the particular habits for that level or take our Shooting Game Situation classes to work on all three levels

Course 1 - Stationary
Course 2 - Jump Shots/Catch & Shoot
Shooting Game Situations Classes - Continue to improve/fine-tune shooting mechanics and footwork in various game situations.

Courses include:

Initial spots will be for those wanting to do the whole session for that particular day and time. If there are any spots remaining, we will open up individual date sign ups on Friday, August 28.

Special Discounts ​
~Combo applies when registering for 6+ weeks skills/prep. 6-week Mondays or 8-week (both Fall #1 & #2 Tue or Wed). Get an additional $10 off when you sign up for all 3 (shooting course 1 & course 2 & 6+ skills/prep).

Congratulations to our 2026 Mark Hawkins Memorial Camp Scholarship recipients!

A special thank you to the coaching staffs at Conner, Cooper, and Ryle High Schools for partnering with us to award a standout player at their camp who exemplified what this award represents. We truly appreciate you helping us honor Mark's legacy by celebrating the next generation of players who represent the very best of the game in our community.

Quick highlights from a fun-filled week 2!

Special thanks to Coach Scott Code, current Dixie Heights Boys Head Coach, for coming out to speak to our campers today!

Coach Code has put together a strong career with over 100 wins and was named the 2025 KABC 9th Region Coach of the Year. He also has multiple 9th and 10th Region Tournament appearances under his belt from his time at Dixie Heights, Campbell County, and Bishop Brossart.

In his message, Coach Code reminded the campers that as you get older, basketball naturally gets harder — but that challenge is actually a great opportunity. If you stick with it and keep working, you can achieve some really special things. Where others may be ahead of you right now, perseverance gives you the chance to overcome those obstacles and rise up.

He pointed out that while the player next to you might be faster, stronger, taller, or quicker, everyone has the same amount of time. What you choose to do with that time is what will ultimately separate you from the rest.

Coach emphasized that if you work hard, be a great teammate, stay coachable, and handle your responsibilities off the court, you’ll put yourself in a strong position to make the team. He also took time to demonstrate techniques to help them play stronger and showed the campers some fun, competitive dribbling, shooting, and finishing games they can compete with their friends at home.

Thanks again Coach Code for coming out today and pouring into our campers with such great insight!
