There was a time when karate training meant blood, sweat, broken knuckles, and deep discipline. A time when earning a belt took YEARS, not months. Where your sensei wasn't just your coach, but your judge, your mentor, and sometimes your worst nightmare 😅.

Fast forward to today...

🚪 Walk into many modern dojos and you'll find:
✅ Rapid belt promotions
✅ Flashy moves with no combat value
✅ More focus on Instagram Reels than actual technique
✅ Kids getting black belts before their bones have finished growing 😬

Why? Because karate has become a business.

The old ways weren't always pretty, but they faked fighters instead of customers.
Today, too many are chasing profit over principle.

💭 Real karate isn't about looking good. It's about being ready when life throws a punch.

Honor to the few dojos that still keep the fire burning 🔥
If you're staying clean every class... you're probably doing cardio, not karate.

Randy Reed got two first place medals and Dominic Hughes got third place for fighting in the silver sun showdown. Dominic also competed in kata. Great effort, gentlemen!

I have seen this so many times.

Kids go through phases. They want to do this, then they suddenly want to do something else. They're not mature enough to make good life choices.

I always tell parents not to let it be the child's choice. You're the parent.

When your child doesn't want to go to school, you make them go anyway. Karate should be the same. You, as a parent, recognize the benefits, so make them go. Make the life choice for them.
