Jesse is the kind of athlete who makes everyone around him better. His consistency, competitive spirit, and willingness to give 110% never go unnoticed. He knows how to make friendly competition fun while constantly pushing those around him to show up and give their best, too. Whether he's chasing a goal or cheering on a fellow athlete, Jesse brings the energy and effort every single time. We’re lucky to have him as part of our CFFM community!
Join us in recognizing and congratulating his hard work!
Preferred CrossFit Class time: 5:45am…The fittest hour of the day
Favorite CrossFit workout or lift: Murph is the only correct answer. CrossFit is a love hate relationship between pleasure and pain. Murph is all those things and a vest. I should say double-unders but that’s too easy 😉
Least favorite workout or lift: Karen! Let Hyrox keep their wallballs
Recent PRs: Set new back squat PR last time we did the total. 360 #
Family life: Wife of 11 years this month, 3 kids (April 8; Jordan 7; Lily 3)
Job: Aircraft Maintenance Region Manager for UPS Airline. My office is in DFW, but I have oversite of the entire South region from Memphis to Albuquerque. I don’t get bored…
Favorite hobby: I have 3 kids in sports in Texas. What is a hobby? I do like to hit the lake on my boat and do some wake boarding.
Favorite workout music: Hard rock such as Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch, Etc.
Favorite thing about CrossFit Flower Mound: The people! In typical CrossFit fashion the community is great, but CFFM is an extra special group of people. I also get to talk some trash here and there which makes me feel at home.
Why you decided to start CrossFitting: I started CF 11 years ago when the mirror told me I was no longer “buff” I was just getting fat. I did a Spartan Race and at the end I saw a group of studs that seemed unbothered by the chaos I just experienced in the race. Every one of them was a CrossFit guy so I found a Groupon a week later to try a month for 30 bucks and haven’t stopped going since.
Thing you're most proud of in the gym: Consistency. You will have times when you feel super fit and times you feel like you should just quit and do Pilates. The key is to just keep getting out of bed until it’s something you can’t live without. To be able to say I have done that for over a decade is a pretty cool badge to carry. I was in a hotel on a business trip a year or so ago and wanted to go find a gym but then when I looked out the window I saw a large mountain range. So instead of finding a gym I grabbed a couple water bottles and a footlong sub and hiked it. 5 hours later I had summited Mt. Baldy (10,068’) in sneakers then went out to dinner with some coworkers. Consistency in the gym allows for random acts of fitness like that just because you can.
Advice you'd give to someone interested in CF: Its not about how much you can lift or how fast you can complete a workout its about being able to move your body athletically. This is what CrossFit is designed to achieve. Show up and the rest will fall into place no matter what “level” you fall into. Being able to physically move is something that many people take for granted and before you know it your ability to do simple things disappears. CrossFit will give you the ability to stay young physically while surrounded by awesome people. I have 3 kids and my goal has always been to show them what being a strong human is. Be the example so they don’t look to YouTube for inspiration. My kids will outwork me one day….but they will have some work to do first!
