A super status day for the Small Boat Long Distance at Lake Lanier Sailing Club may not have been the longest distance sailed due to the absence of wind conditions; but still turned out to be a marvelous day on the water and a chance to meet and see many people!

The Atlanta Cup is in the books!

We had a great weekend hosting the J-24 and J-80 fleets at Lake Lanier Sailing Club. While the wind made things challenging early on, everyone stayed ready and we were able to get three great races off on Sunday to wrap up the event.

A big thank you to all of our volunteers onshore and on the water who helped make the regatta run smoothly. And a special shout-out to our local sail bag company for producing the custom trophies for this year’s event.
We’re already looking forward to doing it again!

The America’s Cup presentation brought to us by Tucker Thompson coming up THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 6th AT 5PM at the Carswell Pavillion located at University Yacht Club (UYC)

Tucker raced in the 2000 America’s Cup and has been involved in the Cup and been a professional TV broadcaster for the Cup as well as the Volvo Ocean Race and various other MAJOR sailing events around the globe ever since. He is internationally recognized, knows the history, the lore, and the gory details of what racing in one of the world’s oldest and most elite competitions is all about. Stories? He’s got’em. What will he tell? You have to come to find out! This will be a fast-paced, multimedia-augmented presentation, prepare to be impressed.

His yacht club tour is a highly sought after event and we are lucky to have him visit our club this year. Don’t miss a great opportunity to meet Tucker, ask questions and enjoy a great show. Who know, you may become the newest America’s Cup ju**ie at the club!
