We are located in the heart of Old Town Folsom and carry a range of Custom, Classic, BMX, and Vintage Cruisers and Accessories. #sutterstreetcruisers

With a passion for Cruisers and desire to be a part of a strong bicycle community, we have relocated to an area with over 30 miles of inter-connected bike paths locally. Where better to lay down roots and bring our Style of Bikes to a growing, family-oriented location than Historic Downtown Folsom? Sutter Street Sunday shares some sunlight to show off this recently completed RUFF CYCLES] Dean.

The recipe for a Clean and Classic Custom remains tried and true after all these years; start with a frame that best fits you and maybe add in a bar or two; sprinkle in some staggered diameter and width wheels for flavor; add a pinch of rechargeable lights front and rear….and definitely a fender or two to taste. Next ensure you have a heathy smattering of high-quality and snazzy looking components that both look and feel good-finish with a powdercoat color (or two) of choice and maybe some Pinstriping for garnish.

We think this one checks all the boxes on our list, with 29x2.5/26x3” wheels front to rear, running a 3-speed out back controlled by the shifter. USB LED rechargeable lights from , drivetrain by RUFF CYCLES] and , and a full-wrap rear fender from all compliment the Illusion Cherry from perfectly. Simple black tires, seat, and grips put the finishing touches on this street-ready sled.

Though the projects we complete in the upcoming days and months may not be as numerous as in years past, rest assured there is no lesser quality or attention to detail provided as we shift our focus to the future.

Enjoy your Sunday and make it a great start to the week ahead.

Wheel Wednesday is better later than never and a long time coming.

What did Mike Tyson say all those years ago?!? Something like…

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”

We have been slowly reorganizing both our workspace and our life lately—transitioning out of our retail location and picking up a part time job while we work to make other things fall into place. At the time of our closure we had numerous projects of various types still pending, and have every intention of seeing each and every one of them through. With some patience and understanding from our friends and customers alike, we are working to make good on those promises…which includes the set you see before you.

These double wall 29x80 and 26x100 wheel hoops were drilled to 12-gauge spoke diameter and paired with an front and 3-speed coaster brake rear hub, all powdered Illusion Malbec from . The thicker gauge spokes and ni***es were then shipped down south to where the 24k treatment took place. The contrasting hues are rich and deep and speak volumes to the project on which they will be placed.

It feels good to pick up the tools again and get back to creating, and we hope you are still here to watch the shenanigans unfold. Whether you’ve been with us since Day 1 or just stumbled upon the s**tshow,
Stay
Fu***ng
Tuned.

You ain’t seen nothing yet.

This will not be the end of our Story.

Things aren’t official until you read about them on the Internet…….right?!?

For those of you who didn’t catch our initial announcement, don’t visit the page regularly, or have secretly been waiting for this day to come; our retail location is now closed.

What once was a bustling brick-and-mortar has been reduced to the last loads of eight years of accumulation as we work to complete the cleansing of our quaint little corner store; right here in the heart of Old Town Folsom.

To say we aren’t emotionally impacted by this latest chapter would be quite the understatement-but as with any tumultuous time in your own personal existence this too shall pass.

There has been a lot of time to reflect recently and one thing remains resolute: it’s been an awesome fu***ng ride.

But this will not be the end of our Story.

We have to ensure that you, our Customers and Family, understand that though things will look a little different from here on out, we are still the same ole’ Sutter Street.

We can still help you source those hard-to-find parts.

We can still be as involved as you like on that personal project you’ve been primping.

We can still answer an inquiry on how something should function.

From inception, our brand has always been about building relationships and not just bicycles—and that will remain true, whether we are back-yard building, garage gathering, or closet creating. You have to remember…it’s not about how much space you have but rather what you choose to do with it.

It will take us a little bit to transition into our new home-based workshop, but we’ll keep you posted on our progress.

In the meantime remember to be good to one another now more than ever, the world needs more of that s**t.

We hope the year to come offers a multitude of new opportunities for you and those you care about, and that you don’t forget about us when you pass the pole and no longer see the bike hanging to let you know where we once were.

Thank you all, big or small, for the love and support you’ve shown over the years.

This will not be the end of our Story.

Fa**ss Friday takes us back into Tricycle Territory with this recently completed
3-wheeled Electric Creation.

It takes a certain level of commitment to take a Custom Bicycle this far…you start with a basic idea and build from there to personalize the platform you inevitably picture yourself riding. Your level of involvement may vary-some people pick and choose the parts and let us take the lead, others would like to help wrench and we re-evaluate each part of the process as items are marked off on our “To-Do” list, together.

Regardless, it is through this interpersonal working relationship that a truly magical creation is achieved.

This RUFF CYCLES] Dean has been mated to a universal trike rear end, with Schwinn-style Cantilever bars added for aesthetics. A 29x3 front with dual 26x4 rears puts a healthy amount of rubber on the road. We converted the single speed rear end to a more usable internal 3-speed from , and increased the pulling power with a 750w electric front hub. Out back, a custom combo battery and controller rack was built; allowing for a removeable, stackable, one-stop power spot to be maintained. and collaborated on the Custom Bars, and other blanks were filled in by , , , RUFF CYCLES] , , , and (just to name a few).

Even though this one will be leaving out-of-state prior to paint or powder, we are excited to see the finishing touches and experience the end result, even from States away. (Because life DOES exist outside of California you know.😜)

Whether it’s the front end or the back that you notice first, we think all angles of this trike can be appreciated.

Whether you’re mobbing 1, 2, or 3 wheels around, don’t let the haters slow you down. Be true to yourself, the ideas you have, and create something special for everyone to see.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Wheel Wednesday comes straight from the West Coast, breathing new life into this Jesse James Chopper.

We have always said that what we do is more about building relationships and not just bicycles, and the Families and Friends we have met along the way are a prime example of this mentality and method of thinking.

is a Father, Family Man, and Hard-working Contributer to his local Community, who desires to share the same passion for bicycles with the next generation. When he acquired this children’s platform, he immediately knew he needed to personalize it for his Son and Daughter to share, adding both performance and aesthetic upgrades to make it their own.

We started with staggered 24 and 20x65mm wheel hoops in Matte Black, pairing them with simple hubs, black spokes, and white ni***es. Wrapped in brick tread whitewall offset tires, the aggressive look of this miniature platform is further intensified front to rear.

Other details include handlebars, a bolt-on kickstand, and intermittent black and white accessories throughout.

No one said age should limit you from style!!

We are always happy to help , regardless of project-but this one hits close to home. Congratulations on continuing the Kustom Culture with your Family, the next generation of would-be bicyclists within our close-knit Community.

Wheel Wednesday is already here; showing off 72-spokes of multi-color madness.

Though it would be great to walk in and be able to choose your finished wheel set right off the floor…unfortunately that’s not how it works. There are far too many alternatives to have a multitude of selections readily available for purchase. Each set is created specifically for the end-user and meets the detailed requirements of their personalized project.

Before we can build on your behalf, we need to know the following:

•Front and Rear wheel diameter
•Front and Rear wheel width
•Desired Gearing and Braking
•Spoke Count and Thickness
•Fork and Frame Width
•Finish (Color) on all Components

The answers to these questions will help determine your proposed budget and turnaround time for completion.

This 26x4 single wall hoop was drilled to 72-holes and mated with a machined 3-speed coaster brake hub. Hoop and hub were powdered a matching blue hue from while spokes and ni***es remain stainless and chrome respectively. (The 6-cross lace adds both rigidity and the desired aesthetic appearance.)

Don’t be afraid to open a dialogue with us, even if you can’t answer all the questions we will ask. We will make the process as easy as possible, and offer flexible options for multiple payments along the way.

With 8+ years history backing our bikes, partner with someone who can help get the job done.

Partner with Sutter Street Cruisers.

Two-Wheeled Tuesday gives us a glimpse of what’s to come with this RUFF CYCLES] modified Dean.

Obviously a built bike is the end result of a collaboration with us here at Sutter Street Cruisers, but if you aren’t enjoying the process behind the selection of parts, the brainstorming, the magic of mock-up and even the potential frustration with final assembly; then we may not be providing you a Complete Customer Experience.

We want you to enjoy each step along the way, and not just the ride on your way out the door!

This project-in-progress sports a slimmer 29x65 front and 26x80 rear, still providing a staggered diameter and width in relation to the rollers. We added a center bar for a more aesthetically appealing appearance—something to set this one aside from the others that came before it. Numerous RUFF CYCLES] components will be utilized including:

-Fork, Stem, and Handlebars
-Cranks, Pedals, and Su***de Shifter

Filling in the rest of the blanks, partners like , , and will provide their parts as well.

Though we already know what colors and finishes will go where, we have to leave you something to the imagination!!

With the bike broken down and outsourced to our respective providers we will have some time to make progress on other projects…but be sure to keep an eye out for this and all the other Full Custom Creations movin’ and shakin’ here in the heart of Old Town Folsom.

Wheel Wednesday blends the best of form and function with these black and white rollers, recently finished.

It’s all well and good for something; anything, to look good…but in most cases you want something to perform as well as it appears. The time spent perfecting an external appearance should also be utilized to discuss optimal performance for the proposed platform.

In this case, the Lady Tango we are working to create will be electric—but the desire remains to utilize it, sometimes, in a non-assisted capacity. Therefore it was decided to place the 750w, small-body housing up front and allow the Owner to decide when to use it while pedaling manually through a 3-speed rear. (This hub will “pull” her, when engaged, with speeds up to 20mph in either a manual throttle or pedal-assist mode.)

The double wall 26x80mm wheel hoops were powdered Gloss White along with the hub housings, and mated with black 12-gauge spokes and ni***es. (We utilize double wall hoops and increased diameter spokes whenever possible on electric applications.) The result is this sano set that will form the foundation for one bitchin’ bike!

Regardless of whether you would like a little help putting some pep-in-your-step or traditional pedal propulsion will be plenty, Sutter Street Cruisers is your one-stop Custom Cruiser Shop.
Make it a point to peek in and let us know how we can help fill in some of the blanks on your next new project, and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Two-Wheeled Tuesday this week shows off that Team Spirit, regardless of who you choose to root for. Though we aren’t super in to Sports ourselves, we love seeing the vigor and passion associated with those that have a favorite Team.

These Collegiate Cruisers debuted years ago, and represented various campuses around the country and their associated teams. When approached to bring this one back to its original luster, we brainstormed with the Owner on what else we could do to reenergize the “Spirit of Troy” and ensure we did USC proper through our efforts.

This single speed Huffy-Style Cruiser was stripped down, and various components were powdered in 1 of 2 hues to begin the process. The frame was painstakingly back-masked in order to paint the yellow scalloped-front, and fenders were added to provide a bit more pallet with which to personalize this project. Once components returned from chrome and polish, the wheels were reassembled, and parts were provided to the maestro of magic so that he could really bring that “Fight On” flavor to life. Hand-painted details grace the frame, fenders, chainguard, and custom-machined aluminum headbadge as well. Finally, a Custom embroidered USC saddle was created by to score the winning touchdown on this Fantasy Football Facelift.

Whether it’s a Pee-Wee Playoff your Daughter is playing in or your Son participating in the Super Bowl, we want to help you show off that Sport Spirit!

Reach out today to begin the process of creation on behalf of yourself and the Team you choose to stand behind.

Wheel Wednesday this week pays attention to the “Chainwheel” (A.K.A. Sprocket); the transferor of power from platform to pedal.

Usually we are showcasing the rollers that you ride on when it comes to mid-week milestones, but today we thought we would show off something different.

Deciding on a drivetrain can be a bit much, especially if you haven’t researched one before. There are crank arm lengths, spindle widths, tooth counts, and pedal thread pitches to take into consideration…and those are just specifics on what will make it work and have nothing to do with how it will look. (And we know that’s all you really care about anyways!)

Creating Custom will always come at a cost, but in working with distributors like , higher-end components can be acquired, paired, and modified to best suit your needs without blowing your build budget. Working with a partner providing such high-end parts will take the headache out of compatibility and installation issues, and will allow you to select a style all your own with numerous variations of each component available for acquisition.

This Racketeer chainwheel has been paired with 140mm 3-piece cranks and Riot Pedals. Alternative Gloss Red and Matte Black powdercoat has been used to spice things up a bit, and intervened to add some hand-painted detail to the sprocket itself. The 44-tooth count should help push the platform without wearing out the owner….but ultimate gearing will be left to you to decide how hard you want to ride.

You know what you want it to look like and how you want it to feel.

We propose parts and finishes.

It’s a winning combination that has worked well for years.

Cruise in today to help make moves for the next step in your makeover or start something with us from scratch.

10/01/2014.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when you say it or write it out…but 8 years is quite a long time in the life cycle of a small business.

Sh*t…..8 years is a long time for anything!

What can you say you’ve done consistently for the last 8 years?

Worked out or worked on that beer gut?

Found true love over and over again?

We have been building this brand before some of you even knew what a bike was, let alone how far a Custom Creation could be taken.

But if you relegate the last 8 years to the rides we have released, you have missed the point of everything we have worked to create here at Sutter Street Cruisers.

From the Beginning, we have ALWAYS been a Customer-Based Experience…reminding everyone who crossed our path that we build relationships and not just bicycles. We are lucky enough to be located within a small but strong bicycling community locally, and to exist in a time when the internet makes the world seem small and increases our ability to connect with international customers exponentially. We are blessed to have the consistency of long-standing Business relationships that allow us to continue to create on your behalf. We are fortunate to work with other talented individuals with skills greater than our own—as it is through these interpersonal connections and the sharing of ideas and concepts that industry-changing icons like “chop suEy” have come to be in existence.

But in actuality it doesn’t come down to Awards, Accolades, or even Amusement. It comes down to the fact that this is how we feed our family, in part, and we are proud of that fact we haven’t given up more than anything else associated with the last 8 years.

Entrepreneurship is NOT FOR EVERYONE.

Low percentages of businesses ever make it, and even lesser numbers of those are “successful”, earning monies sufficient to survive. Couple that with a multitude of external factors outside your personal control and BAM!!!

Welcome to Business Ownership 101.

Regardless of whether we continue another 8 years or shut the doors 8 days from now, we just wanted to say thanks.

Thank you for helping us turn into the individual we were destined to be.

Wheel Wednesday shows off something truly unique which debuted this past weekend in Southern California.

There are a multitude of moving parts to any good idea—there’s the initial thought (which is oftentimes what most of the credit is attributed to), there’s facilitation of the steps necessary to achieve the desired result, and then there’s the final product itself; which, when executed correctly, makes you forget about everything that led up to that point and allows you to revel in the true transformation that is concept to reality.

These 26x4” wheel hoops were drilled to 8-gauge spoke diameter and paired with standard hubs and chrome spokes/ni***es for what would be an already aesthetically appealing set by today’s standards. But in working with partners like , there is no limit to the level of detail desired. He once again returned to his partner , who painstakingly produced the hoop “wraps”-
Tooled leather coverings which would be drilled, dyed, and adhered to the wheels prior to lacing…in a flawless format worthy of royalty.

And you thought a high-end leather saddle and grips would garnish favor with the judges?!?

This is a new level of craftsmanship unlocked.

Though it may not be for everyone, this s**t is right up our alley!!

A new take on something as simple as wheels has totally transformed what “could be” into “what is” and will inspire sets for future customs the world over.

We are just excited and humbled to help play a small part. Congratulations on your creation and for securing yet another “Best of Show” at this past weekend’s So-Cal Bicycle Show.✊
