Getting some swift water experience during the last week! 😎

Session 2 has been off to a great start! They have been learning basic lifeguarding skills, and have completed CPR training!

We had a great trip to Santa Cruz for ocean orientation! The JGs were able to successfully apply the skills they learned at the lake in a new and dynamic environment. As we enter the last week of our program we will introduce the JGs to the swift water environment with a day of river rafting. 🌊☀️

We are half way through session 1! We have covered how to tie and deploy a buoy, how to do water entries and use rescue boards, and how to identify and effect a rescue. We also completed our first aid and CPR lectures and had our interpretation team come talk to the group. Off to Santa Cruz tomorrow for ocean orientation!

We will be diving into Session 1 starting June 8th, but we still have space for more participants!

Folsom Lake SRA Seasonal Lifeguard tryouts are coming up!

2026 Lifeguard Tryout Dates:
Saturday, April 25th
Saturday, May 16th
**All tryouts will be held at the Granite Bay Main Beach at 10am.

Tryout Requirements :
-Complete a competitive 1,000 yard open water swim in under 20 minutes
-Consecutive 200 yard run, 400 yard swim, 200 yard run in under 10 minutes

If you are under the age of 18 a parent/guardian must be present.

Minimum Job Requirements:
🪪Valid Driver’s License
🏊Strong swimming ability

Starting Pay: $21.29-$23.59/hour
