Gordon said there are two types of styles in BJJ: a movement-based style and a control-based style. He chose control-based because he wasn’t the most athletic person, but given his size and strength, he could limit and control opponents’ movement. And if you’re wondering if I ever got him back… Let’s just say I’m still collecting payback every time we roll 🥋🔥 When I was a kid, my mom used to take me to Master Alvaro Barreto’s academy, who was a student of the legendary Ali Gracie. But truth be told, I was never really dedicated back then, I’d train for a while, then stop, on and off all the time. It wasn’t until my teenage years, after that unforgettable fight in the sand where Luiz completely dominated me, that I realized how important Jiu Jitsu was. That moment stuck with me like a knot in my throat, and I swore that one day I’d get him back. Not long after, Leonardo Beer invited me to visit the old academy of Master De La Riva in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro . That was the turning point. From that day forward, I never stopped dedicating myself to Jiu Jitsu. And as fate would have it, Luis also ended up at the same academy.
