A note from Karen Dobbins to all that participated and made the Keith Dobbins Shootout such a great tournament :
“As I sit here reflecting on the tournament, I am in awe of the kindness, help, and generosity shown to our family in putting together this event in memory of Keith.
I first want to thank God for giving me strength to carry on when the hard times crept in. He gave us two beautiful days, although a little warm but truly perfect weather.
This year was a little different as our family lost Sweet Baby June Pearson only July 9th, after a short but brave battle with childhood brain cancer. On days I think I can’t go on, I remember her sweet little smiling face and know that I have to push through.
I want to thank my three wonderful children- Chris, Greg, and Leslie who I see Keith in everyday. They are the reason I work so hard to make this the best tournament around— for the amazing man they called “pop” and “daddy”.
I want to thank Randy, what a wonderful person he is! I am proud to call him a friend. Thank you for all of your help and the countless hours you put in and always with a smile. Thank you for letting me bounce my ideas off of you. I thank Randy’s wife Deborah and family as well for sharing him with us all at Forest City Golf Course.
I want to thank all of our players— you all are awesome. A real stand up bunch of men and women. I think we had more women players this year than previous years! We appreciate and enjoy all of the stories that are shared with us about Keith— there are so many, and I hear a new story each year that I haven’t heard before! I know Keith was looking down with that grin on his face.
I want to thank my precious family— Angie, oh my, I could NOT do this without you. You let me be me with my crazy ideas. Thank you for always being there when I need you.
Nancy & Mark— thank you for everything you do to help us, the loading, unloading, and helping me find things that are right in front of me! Your support means more than you know.
Keith & Barbara— thank you for always being there for us!
My dear friend Melinda who shows up every year and sits with us, makes us laugh and keeps my heart light you are a true gem, I love you girl! Terry— thank you for always being at the tee off with us and for sharing the many Keith stories you have. You were a special friend to Keith.
Lamar, Sharon, Andy & Yolande— thank you for coming by and visiting with us! And thank you Andy for the buns for Saturday’s lunch and all of the snack cakes!
My work family— Eva, Sherri, Kayce, Ann, Ed, Jackie, Alyssa, James, Kathy I am not sure what I did to deserve you all but I thank God for each of you daily! Thank y’all for the beautiful flowers, donations, and time. Most of all for just picking me up when I need it— laughs to make the heart lighter, I love you all!
My church family— thank you for all of the prayers. This is a labor of love but also it’s a tough time to get through.
