Arizona Volleyball

Arizona volleyball returns to Big Dance and heads to familiar territory Last year's NCAA Tournament snub had Arizona volleyball on edge during the 2025 selection show, but the Wildcats exhaled upon learning that they'd be returning to the Big Dance.

Triple Crown Sports has announced that the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), a premier NCAA Division I postseason tournament, will not be held in 2025.

The decision was made in collaboration with the NIVC committee as part of a broader effort to evaluate the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.

“Triple Crown and our NIVC committee have elected to pause the NIVC for 2025 to reevaluate the landscape of the college volleyball market along with the college sports space,” said Jared Rudiger, TCS Director of Volleyball.

NIVC - National Invitational Volleyball Championship The National Invitational Volleyball Championship will be an annual tournament involving 32 of the nation's top women's Division I Volleyball teams. All games, including the semifinals and championship, are hosted by participating schools. Every round is single elimination.

📣NIVC Update - Postseason Tournament Plans Under Evaluation

NIVC Committee continues to actively monitor team performance and engage with programs that may be in contention for an invitation to this year’s NIVC. We are considering a 16-team or 32-team field. The decision to run a tournament will ultimately be based on the level of program interest and commitment, as well as logistical considerations.

We will provide another update about the status of the tournament by November 5.

📣 2025 NIVC Update

Triple Crown Sports is in the process of evaluating interest levels for the 2025 NIVC. Over the next few weeks, we will be reviewing the following to determine next steps for this year’s event:

✅ NCAA volleyball RPI's
✅ Program interest from eligible teams
✅ Viability of running the event based on interest levels

By the end of October, we will make the final decision on whether the tournament will be ran this year. If paused for 2025, we’ll shift focus to planning a refreshed event in 2026.

TCS Event Director Kaitlin Flynn absolutely DOMINATED the Triple Crown Sports Staff Bracket Challenge. Flynn's stats ended with 23/28 matches correct (82%) and she had a perfect left side of the bracket, including the champion (only person to do so). Way to go Flynn!!

From worst to first - Stewart Gill ran away with the bracket challenge victory!! Stewart was our only celeb to put Arizona Volleyball through with the NIVC trophy. 🏆🏆🏆

Big championship vibes from Arizona Volleyball last night.✨🏐

In front of a crowd of 2,676 fans, Arizona (24-9) posted its 11th consecutive victory to wrap up the season with a five-set thriller (27-29, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-9) to claim the 2024 championship against Bowling Green State University Volleyball. Congrats Wildcats!!

In what turned out to be an instant classic Triple Crown NIVC in Tucson, both Bowling Green and Arizona put on a show that went five sets in the 2024 Championship Match on Tuesday night! Congrats to Arizona on taking home the crown!
