Your needs and struggles are real, and money is a tool.

It doesn't have the final word, and it makes a terrible master.

Your faith is of greater worth than gold (1 Peter 1:7).

Be gentle with yourself, and put your healing first. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥

With you,
Rachel

Today matters for FOREVER.

Widowhood doesn't change that, in fact, it can enhance it, because we're seeing how life is temporary clearer than ever.

Widowhood can make you ask questions about God you never thought you'd have to ask...

Where is he right now (like, really)?
What do I actually believe about eternity?
Who is my God who has allowed this for us?

After your husband dies, these aren't abstract or theological questions anymore. You're looking right at death and eternity in a way you probably never have before.

So, what if you could lean in?
What if your questions could become part of knowing God more deeply?
What if the spiritual part of us needs just as much healing as our bodies, and minds do? ❤️‍🩹

We're talking about in this week's Hope Speaker Blog—why faith changes everything in our widowhood.

Jesus gave us widows two gifts in his example of facing and enduring tragedy. 💝

We can receive the same grace and imitate Christ. 💜

Be blessed, sister. You aren't alone here.

Rachel

Widow sister, this is for you...🎶💓

I know doing this alone is unbelievable. Yet 7 yrs into rebuilding a beautiful life again, I can tell you the Lord was right in encouraging us to proclaim:

"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." -Psalm 27:13

Yes, even here and now. Amen.✝️

As I was praying for my widow sisters, the Spirit moved me to put my phone up and just sang a snippet of this song I love.

It wasn't practiced, it's not a great mic, and none of that matters. How He meets us in our vulnerability is the point.

You are not alone, sister.

With you,
Rachel Powell

JJ Heller Thank you for this relatable and encouraging song in widowhood.

“My therapist wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t enough when I became a widow. There was a gap, and I find Rachel helped so much more.” -V.H.

“I suddenly don’t feel so alone anymore after making this connection to Rachel’s coaching and community. I know the Lord led me to her.” -K.H.

What is the value of that - what would that be worth to you?

Let's be safe, protected & honest.

We're talking about threats from the outside and temptations from the inside in widowhood... Identity theft, scammers, and more.

I wish someone had warned me of all the vulnerabilities when I became a widow...

Not because I needed another reason to be afraid, but because I needed to be prepared.

After being widowed, I was taken advantage of in multiple ways by others, and also struggled with the weakness of my own flesh more than any other time in my life.

I knew I was in survival mode in grief, but I didn't know how much that could affect my awareness, my judgment, my boundaries, and my desire for relief from pain.

And as I've walked alongside so many other widows, I've seen some of these same vulnerabilities show up again and again.

It's why I wrote this week: I want to talk honestly about the things we need to guard against—both the threats that can come from outside of us and the vulnerabilities we carry inside our own hearts.

Whatever you do, don't make the "valley of the shadow of death" here in widowhood your new home.

We must keep going, even if it's at a crawl.

Your body needs and deserves care and stewardship now more than ever. ❤️‍🩹💓

And yes, there's abundant grace for not having it all together, for falling off the bandwagon and even for a little "cheating." 🤫🫠

But your healthy practices (or not) of rest, exercise, better food, mental health... Are the building blocks for how you are going to be able to carry yourself through this, sister. ❤️‍🔥

With you in it,
Rachel
