Peter's, fly fishing is a lifestyle and with that statement in mind, we assure the best knowledge, equipment, and experience possible to assist you in your pursuits. We are conveniently positioned in close proximity to a number of world class waters including: Cache la Poudre River, Big Thompson River, Rocky Mountain National Park, North Platte River (Upper North Platte, Gray Reef, and Miracle Mile), and many stillwaters. Peter's Fly Shop is a community of friends doing what we love - fly fishing. Please note: Old Town shop is closed Sundays, South Shop is closed on Mondays.

Films for Fish is back for 2026: A conservation film night bringing our fly fishing community together for a great cause! 🏔️🌲💧

Join us on Thursday, November 12th, at New Belgium Fort Collins Liquid Center for an evening of fly fishing films, cold b**rs, and community, all while raising money for our friends at Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed! We’re especially excited to feature a new bull trout film from local filmmakers Braker Brothers, featuring Martin Gerdin, alongside a lineup of some of our favorite fly fishing films. Tickets are $20, with 100% of ticket proceeds going directly to the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW) to support their ongoing conservation efforts in our local watershed. Tickets are available at either shop or through the link in our bio!

Don’t let the low flows fool you! There are still plenty of great fishing opportunities up the canyon. Dry-dropper rigs continue to be the ticket, but sizing down your flies and presentations is key. Small midges, BWOs, ants, and beetles have been producing, especially in faster riffles and pocket water.
~
We’re also starting to see some spawning activity in the canyon, so please be mindful of spawning fish and stay off the redds!
~

We’re kicking off our 2026–27 Fly Tying Demo season with a SPOOKY guest on a SPOOKY day! 🎃👻

Join us on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, from 10:30am–12:30pm, as we welcome Chris Krueger (Chris Krueger) for our first fly tying demo of the season! Only 25 spots are available, so be sure to reserve yours through the link in our bio!

Fly tying season is officially here, and we couldn’t be more excited to start announcing this year’s lineup of talented fly tyers! We’re starting things off with one of our favorite local tyers, Chris Krueger. A Fort Collins native, Chris owns and operates Chris Krueger and is a Signature Fly Designer with MontanaFlyCo, as well as a pro team member of REGAL VISE, Solarez Flytying, and Ahrex Hooks.

With a name like Krueger, who better to kick things off on Halloween? 🔪🎃 Costumes are highly encouraged, but certainly not required! We’re looking forward to some frighteningly good flies, great company, and a fun start to another season of fly tying demos. We hope to see you there!

Fall means switching gears, and sometimes that means trying something new...
~
Shop staff and guides have been putting in the work dialing in the fall Northern Pike fishing here along the Front Range. With water temperatures dropping in our local warmwater fisheries, now is a great time to switch things up and target something new!
~
Pike aren’t the only species worth chasing on the fly along the Front Range. We’re still seeing plenty of actively feeding carp, some great smallmouth bass being caught out at Horsetooth, and all sorts of other unique species in between.
~

Class Spotlight: Mile Spey School (2 spots left)

If you’ve ever watched someone make a smooth two handed cast across the river and thought, “That looks cool, but I wouldn’t even know where to start,” this class is exactly where to begin.
~
This Sunday (October 11th from 9am to 3pm), we’re heading to the Miracle Mile for a full day dedicated to learning the fundamentals of Trout Spey and swinging flies for trout, ON THE WATER.
~
No Spey experience is necessary. We provide all the equipment, lunch, and hands on instruction throughout the day. With only three anglers in the class, there’s plenty of individual instruction and time to get comfortable with something new. For more information, click the link in our bio.

With the change in seasons comes a small change in our shop hours. Starting today, we’ll be opening one hour later at both shops (10am).
~
Old Town Shop: Monday - Saturday | 10am to 6pm
South Shop: Tuesday - Saturday | 10am to 6pm
Sunday at South: 10am to 4pm

The colors are changing, the fish are looking good, and some of our favorite fall fishing is ahead. We’ll see you in the shop or out on the water.
