Four weeks in Rocklands, South Africa. Our Head Coach Everett Everett Sloane just wrapped a bouldering trip with Gabe Krzykwa and Sarah Silverman, right after a full season coaching Team Whetstone.
Everett opened with a flash of Barracuda V11 on day two. Day three brought a strong go on Night Show V12, which he closed out two attempts later, then ten attempts on Ménage à Trois V14. A few days at DePakhuis included a highlight climb of El Corazon V13, a boulder he’d wanted since he was ten years old, watching Daniel Woods make the first ascent. Over the following weeks, he achieved a lifelong goal by flashing The Guest List V13, then following it up with flashes of Quintessential and Moonshadow, both V13. Amandala V14, a Fred Nicole testpiece, didn’t go this trip, so a return next summer is already in the works.
Gabe sent Albatross V11, Electric Copper V11, and the terrifying double dyno Into the Void V12, then closed out the trip on Shoshaloza V12 with nearly every finger taped and bleeding. Sarah climbed her way through Arch Valley V6, Human Energy V7, and both 60 Is the New 30 and Minki, V8.
Four weeks, dozens of classics, one spot this crew can’t wait to get back to.
We’re beyond stoked for Everett Sloane after a trip like this. And proud to have a program like GCOR (Go Climb Outside Reimbursement), which reimburses staff for travel costs on climbing trips, helping our team go have their own adventures.
