Ocean Quest Week is in full swing at Camp Live Oak, and what an incredible week it’s shaping up to be!

There is something exciting happening every single day.

Today, our campers worked together on a beautiful giant coral reef mural, bringing the colors and creatures of Florida’s reefs to life. It’s amazing to watch their creativity come together on one enormous work of art!

Tomorrow, our Salty Anglers head to Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park for a full day of fishing along the shoreline.

On Wednesday, our youngest campers, the Minnows, will visit the Jellyfish Museum in Pompano Beach, then return to Birch State Park for a special Sea Life on the Beach program.

Thursday is one of everyone’s favorite adventures as our older campers, the Tarpons, travel to Key Largo for a full day of snorkeling, exploring the living coral reefs and the incredible marine life of the Florida Keys.

Throughout the week, campers will also become marine biologists as they participate in starfish dissections, learning firsthand about one of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures.

And, of course, one of our favorite Camp Live Oak traditions returns this week..our annual silk-screen T-shirt printing! Every camper will create their own Camp Live Oak keepsake to take home, a colorful reminder of an unforgettable summer adventure.

From art and science to fishing, snorkeling, and hands-on exploration, Ocean Quest Week is exactly what Camp Live Oak is all about—connecting children with nature while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Week 4 is in the books, and what an incredible week it was! From fishing along the shoreline and hitting bullseyes in archery to creating nature projects, making new friends, and sharing plenty of laughs, every day was another adventure. There’s something special about watching children unplug, explore the outdoors, build confidence, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to our amazing campers, dedicated staff, and supportive families for making Camp Live Oak such a special place. We can’t wait to see what Week 5 has in store!

Have a safe Happy July 4th!

Tonight is one of the most magical nights of the summer at Camp Live Oak..our Starlight Sleepover!

Our campers are in for an unforgettable adventure with pizza, ice cream sundaes, homemade blueberry pancakes in the morning, a campfire with live guitar music, songs, and s’mores under the stars. We’ll head out on a nighttime nature walk to discover what comes alive after dark, enjoy an exciting game of blacklight laser tag, and finish the experience with an early morning beach walk as the sun rises over the Atlantic.

There will be laughter, friendship, great food, and plenty of surprises along the way. These are the moments children remember for years..the memories that make summer camp so special.

Have a wonderful evening, campers! Sleep well in your cabins beneath the stars, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Week 3 Fun Day was filled with smiles, creativity, friendly competition, and outdoor adventures! From painting beautiful nature scenes and challenging friends to chess and mancala, to exciting games across the field and another great day of fishing, our campers made memories they’ll never forget.

At Camp Live Oak, every day is an opportunity to explore, create, learn, and build lifelong friendships in the beautiful surroundings of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.

Thank you to our amazing campers, families, and staff for making another incredible week one to remember! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

We are incredibly grateful to the Drial Foundation Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward, the Florida Park Service, Friends of Birch State Park, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation, and the Museum of Discovery and Science for creating this beautiful new Coastal Corridor Exhibit and Outdoor Amphitheater at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.

This remarkable space provides our Camp Live Oak children with opportunities to learn about Florida’s unique ecosystems while surrounded by the very habitats they are studying. From mangrove forests and maritime hammocks to Long Lake and coastal wildlife, these interactive exhibits bring environmental education to life.

Beyond being an outdoor classroom, this peaceful setting has already become a place of tranquility and reflection for our campers and staff. We are truly fortunate to have access to such a special space that inspires curiosity, appreciation for nature, and a sense of calm.

A great camp day starts with friendships, laughter, and a little friendly competition!

Our Morning Care campers are easing into the day with board games, chess, card games, and plenty of smiles before the adventures begin. These quiet moments help build friendships, encourage problem-solving, and create a welcoming start to each day.

At Camp Live Oak, we believe camp isn’t just about activities…it’s about creating a community where every child feels happy, safe, and excited to be here.

We’re ready for another amazing day in the great outdoors!

A huge thank you once again to the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation, Inc. for their generous support of Camp Live Oak’s Lil’ Sprouts Program. Their investment helps us connect young children and families with nature through hands-on outdoor experiences throughout the year.

Today, our Lil’ Sprouts welcomed a wonderful group of moms, dads, and their 3- and 4-year-olds for a fun-filled morning at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Families enjoyed science activities, nature-inspired art, games, fishing, and plenty of time to explore and play together.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing young children discover the outdoors, create with their hands, and build memories alongside their families.
