Regarding the events during yesterday’s Super Bowl halftime show at Sports Den Pub (inside Manor Lanes), I want to start by sincerely apologizing to anyone who felt offended or upset by what happened. Our goal was never to divide or exclude—quite the opposite.
If you’re a regular at Manor Lanes, you know we pride ourselves on being a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of s*x, gender, religion, politics, background, or beliefs. In a time when our country feels more divided than ever, we were simply trying to create an environment where all our guests could enjoy the big game comfortably.
Our plan was straightforward: keep the official NFL halftime show—Bad Bunny’s performance—on the screens and sound system in the main bar area, while switching the bowling alley screens to the Turning Point USA alternative “All-American Halftime Show.” This way, patrons could choose whichever aligned with their preferences, and everyone could feel included and happy.
Unfortunately, technical issues got in the way. When staff tried to adjust the front-of-house audio, it briefly switched the bar jukebox back to radio mode—but we quickly corrected it to play Bad Bunny as intended. More importantly, we were never able to successfully get the audio working for the alternative show in the bowling alley, despite our efforts. I’m truly sorry to anyone who was hoping to watch that option and couldn’t.
The hate and backlash we’ve received—sparked by some online posts—feels misplaced and unfair. What happened was a genuine mix-up due to tech glitches, not any intentional racial, political, or biased decision. Misconstruing it that way contradicts the very message Bad Bunny delivered in his performance: that love is stronger than hate. That’s a value we live by at Manor Lanes every day—diversity, respect, and love are what make our community special, and anyone who knows us can vouch for that.
To everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate, thank you for being part of the Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale family. We appreciate you, and we’re committed to learning from this so we can continue being the inclusive spot you know and love.
Love and respect to all.
