🌟 Owner Spotlight: Gabriela Sevillano 🌟

Born in Charlotte, NC to Peruvian immigrant parents, Gabriela began her dance journey at just 3 years old with Charlotte City Ballet. At 10, she discovered ballroom dance and quickly found her passion. She went on to win multiple major competitions including the Heritage Classic, Manhattan Dancesport Championships, and Ohio Star Ball from Junior to Youth.

In 2011, Gabriela partnered with Dmitriy Solomakha. Together they quickly rose through the competitive ranks, becoming USA National Amateur Finalists and 10 Dance Vice Champions. As professionals, they are USA National and World 10 Dance Finalists, Eastern USA Champions, Bronze Medalists at the UK Open 10 Dance Championship, and were in the top 48 at the prestigious Blackpool Festival.

Gabriela’s career also includes performing and choreographing in productions such as La Traviata, Giselle, Carmen, and Eugene Onegin, and appearing on So You Think You Can Dance.

Today, she continues to share her passion for dance through teaching, choreography, and building a vibrant dance community at Dance Center USA.

🌟 Owner Spotlight: Dmitriy Solomakha 🌟

Born in Vinnytsya, Ukraine, Dmitriy began dancing at age 6 and quickly developed a passion for ballroom. By just 12 years old, he became a Ukrainian National Champion and went on to win numerous national titles throughout his youth career.

Throughout his youth career, Dmitriy earned multiple national titles and competition victories, establishing himself as one of the top young dancers in Ukraine. He later graduated from the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine with a degree in Professional and Olympic Sport Training, further strengthening his expertise in dance and athletic performance.

Dmitriy’s career has taken him around the world, performing internationally on Seabourn and Royal Caribbean cruise lines before eventually making the United States his home.

In 2011, Dmitriy partnered with Gabriela Sevillano, and together they quickly rose through the competitive ranks. As a couple they became USA National Amateur Finalists and 10 Dance Vice Champions. After turning professional, their achievements continued with titles including USA National and World Professional 10 Dance Finalists, Eastern United States Champions, Bronze medalists at the prestigious UK Open 10 Dance Championship, and top 48 at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival.

Today, Dmitriy brings decades of international experience to Dance Center USA and is an asset to the education we bring to our students.

✨ Instructor Spotlight: Kayla Alexander ✨

From her first dance class at age five in Columbia, SC, Kayla Alexander has built a career rooted in discipline, leadership, and a passion for arts education. She trained competitively for five years at the Academy of Dance Arts before earning her B.A. in Dance Education from Winthrop University, graduating cm laude from the Honors College and serving as captain of the Golden Claws Dance Team.

Kayla is proud to be the first-ever dance teacher at Pleasant Knoll Middle School in Fort Mill, SC, where she developed a dynamic dance program and coaches the school’s dance team, the Hawkettes. She also shares her expertise with students of all ages at Dance Center USA.

Her mission is clear: cultivate confident, technically strong dancers while inspiring the next generation through meaningful arts education.

✨ Instructor Spotlight: Hannah Pfenninger ✨

From Bluffton, South Carolina to the studio floor, Hannah Pfenninger has been living and breathing dance since the age of 7! With 14 years of training in hip-hop, jazz, and ballroom, she brings both versatility and passion to every class she teaches.

Hannah began co-teaching a competitive youth ballroom team at just 14 years old—proof that leadership and love for dance have always been at the heart of her journey. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and is currently working toward her Master of Arts in Teaching, with the goal of inspiring the next generation as a public high school dance educator.

During her time at Winthrop, she expanded her training to include ballet and modern, adding even more depth and artistry to her teaching style. Whether she’s breaking down technique or building confidence on the dance floor, Hannah is dedicated to helping every student grow. 💃

✨ Instructor Spotlight: Joe Butler ✨

By day, he’s an engineer. By night, he’s lighting up the dance floor. 💃🕺

Joe Butler began his ballroom journey over a decade ago as a student here at DCUSA looking for a creative outlet — and what started as stress relief quickly became a true passion. Today, he brings both technical precision and expressive artistry into every lesson at Dance Center USA.

Joe has competed and performed in numerous showcases and events, giving him real-world experience that he shares with each of his students. His teaching style? A perfect blend of lighthearted discipline, smart problem-solving, and encouragement that builds both skill and confidence.

Whether you’re stepping into your first group class or diving into private lessons, Joe is dedicated to helping you grow on and off the dance floor.
