So if you are familiar with our classes you know WE 💙 ROCKS! Crazy? 🤪 Nope 👎! We use rocks, glass bead, even shells to stack and practice breath-work, our families exchanged kindness rocks, and we filled our environment with rocks of positivity during the Covid pandemic. 9/16 is National Collect Rocks Day- yes another made up holiday it’s true, but we felt that right now everyone could use a reminder to “Take a Walk🎶” & what better reason than to gather some rocks. Slow down, walk together, notice each other and your surroundings and gather some 🪨 👍. Maybe paint them, or stack them noticing your breath and your time together as you do. It’s a perfect time to paint some 🎃, paint some fall ☀️ or anything your 💙 desires. Whatever you do the reminder is - turn off the busy 🌎, take a 🚶➡️🚶🏻♀️➡️, collect some rocks 🪨 and take time to breathe… together.

Did you know that every year on 15th September, children, teachers and families all over the world celebrate International Dot Day?
This special day is inspired by the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, which tells the story of Vashti, a little girl who discovers her creativity when she makes her mark with a single dot. At MMM we love Peter Reynolds books and use them in so many of our classes!
The day is all about encouraging children to be brave, to experiment, and to see where their creativity takes them.
“Fun Ideas for Dot Day from Activity Village:
Dot Art Painting – Bring out the paints and cotton buds, sponges, or even fingertips to create colourful dotty pictures. Kids can design animals, flowers, or abstract art made entirely of dots.
Collaborative Dot Mural – Give each child a circle of paper to decorate with their own design. Put them all together to create a huge, striking wall display.
Start a writing project with a dot - after all, there’s a dot on an i and a j! Write the letter down and children can add to it (before or after) to make a sentence. Or ask them to see how many i’s and j’s they can get into a sentence or paragraph - count the “dots”!
Story Time with The Dot – Read Peter H. Reynolds’ inspiring book together, then talk about what it means to “make your mark”.
Dotty Games – Play with dots in different ways: dot-to-dot puzzles activityvillage.co.uk has lots to choose from, dominoes (lots to print), spotty dice games (explore our collection), or even a scavenger hunt around the house or classroom to find as many dots as you can!
International Dot Day is a lovely reminder that even the smallest mark can spark imagination and confidence. So grab some paper, paints and pens - and let’s make dots together!”
