Today was my first workout in 7 monthsโฆ
If you donโt know the whole story, Iโve been sick in bed for the better part of 6 months.
It started with my gut biome being killed off by some antibiotics I took after a wisdom tooth removal.
4 1/2 months of recovery.
2 weeks I felt like I was getting better.
Then I got COVID.
I didnโt just get a bad cold, I got smacked.
3 weeks down.
First week of February was the first week I felt normal since August of last year.
Months upon months of pain.
And I let that pain take the drivers seat for an additional 3 weeks into February.
The belief: โI was just super sick, I really need to pace myself and take it easy.โ
I was afraid Iโd get sick again.
I was suffering from a fear developed from a past pain.
Pain is unavoidable, especially when youโre on a path of greatness and growth.
Suffering is what you say to yourself about that pain.
Suffering will hurt you WAY more than any pain will.
Pain will slow you down, suffering will take you to a grinding halt.
Whenever you encounter pain, donโt let it fester and grow into suffering.
Thereโs zero benefit to letting it happen.
Has it already happened?
No worries, just accept what has happened, pick yourself up, and continue onwards.
Crazy how out of shape you can get when you donโt workout for 6 months ๐
Starting from scratch again like freshman year of college - this time I actually know what Iโm doing ๐

In 2022, do something different.
Donโt let 2022 be a repeat of 2021.
Take different actions, refine your behaviors and habits, and commit to being more you than you ever have in the past.
2022 will only be โyour yearโ if you take risks and take the actions you keep saying youโll take.
Fear, anxiety, worry - all emotions and feelings that youโve allowed to dictate your actions.
No more.
Let 2022 be different.
Shoot your shot, take take that action, ask that question - you never know how itโll go until you try.

Two guys, same bus, and access to the same views.
One chooses to focus on the negative, the other the positive.
One failure doesnโt mean itโs over, itโs simply just one less time itโll happen.

The likelihood that the situation that youโre facing is as dangerous as you think is pretty low.
Unless youโre in danger of serious harm or death, itโs really not that big of a deal.
A piece of advice I heard recently that has helped me TREMENDOUSLY in overcoming any perceived anxiety or worry about a situation is this:

We live in a world where predation on humans is pretty much gone.
We live our lives in the comfort of our homes, driving around in our cars, working in our offices (which also happen to be at home now), and going outside to extremely safe places.
The likelihood that youโll be eaten is extremely low - thatโs a really good thing!
However, we perceive the stressors in our daily life as if theyโre life or death situations - aka, weโre about to be eaten.
This throws your mind down an incredible spiral of fear and anxiety that seems impossible to escape.
But next time youโre in one of those stressful, anxiety ridden times, ask yourself this: โAm I going to be eaten? Will this kill me?โ
More likely than not, being a little late to work wonโt result in you getting eaten.
Missing one day at the gym wonโt result in you getting eaten.
Getting turned down by that person wonโt result in you getting eaten.
That upcoming exam youโve gotโฆ will not eat you.
That big social event you donโt want to go toโฆ no one there will eat you.
While it may be stressful, the end result will still be the same - youโre still alive, and THATโS what matters.
If you ever find yourself in those anxiety spirals around an event, person, or situation - just remember, youโre not going to get eaten ๐

When you fake it, you are telling yourself "this isn't who I am, but I'm going to pretend so that others believe that this is me."
Not only are you lying to others, but you're lying to the one person that matters most - yourself.
"But Chase, how am I supposed to be this amazing person that I want everyone to see me as?"
Here's what I want you to do:
I want you to sit down and write down what kind of person you're trying to be right now by "faking it".
Now, I want you to imagine a version of you that actually is that person.
Then, figure out what that version of you does every day to be the type of person you'e pretending to be.
Now go do those things.
It's that simple.
You want to be an incredible athlete? Then do what an athlete does: focus more on your nutrition, train effectively, take your rest and recovery seriously, and practice practice practice.
You might be a s**t athlete right now, but embodying what it means to be a great athlete will make you a real one in time.
You want to be a successful business owner? Then do what a business owner does: do your research about your industry, prioritize your income producing tasks, build systems to create predictability, serve serve serve.
You might be a s**t business owner right now, but embodying what it means to be a great business owner will make you a real one in time.
Faking is temporary, embodying is forever.
Stop lying to yourself and others, start at square 1 like everyone else and build.
I've fallen victim to this terrible advice time and time again, not anymore. I'm learning, I'm developing, I'm practicing - in time, I will be a great business owner and educator.

Hey y'all, it's been a while. 2 months to be precise.
Whether you've wondered why I've been gone or not, I'm going to tell you, because it led to me ACTUALLY understanding the importance of the first line of this caption.
I've been dealing with some medical shiznit for the past 2 months, and my doctors have only recently figured out what's been going on with me.
I was having panic attacks every day for a good 2 weeks for literally zero reason, I wasn't able to eat anything besides a banana and some water for a good 2 weeks (leading to 15 lbs lost), my stomach was always in intense pain and I could barely sleep because of the back-and-forth between the panic attacks and the stomach pain. All the while, I was completely in the dark as to what and why this was all happening for 2 months.
I went to the emergency room, GI specialists, had an endoscopy done, and took a couple of different meds along the way.
Turns out, an antibacterial I took after a wisdom tooth removal killed my microbiome which led to all of this happening.
The reason I tell you this lil story isn't for your sympathy - it's to solidify a point.
During this entire time, I honestly never thought about how much money I was or wasn't making, how much my social media would suffer from me not being present, how much fun I was missing out on by not hanging out with friends and doing fun things, etc.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก
I used to fall into these mental traps at times that I wasn't making enough, I wasn't having enough fun, and my social media wasn't taking off as it has in the past.
Now, my health is the major thing I focus on these days.
I'm about 90-95% better, but this lesson has been ingrained into my brain for the rest of my life.
ALWAYS take care of your mental and physical health.
You'll be seeing my face much more often now, and I'll be letting y'all know some updates that will be coming to Nu Alpha soon too.

You are a result of your pastโฆ
At least, you allow yourself to be.
What we donโt realize is that our โmemoriesโ of the past are distorted.
And we are the ones that distorted them.
What you might have thought to be an event where people hated youโฆ
Might have just been that one person had a bad day that dayโฆ
And you happened to be the person to feel their wrath.
But you donโt remember it that wayโฆ
So YOU created a story in your head to make sense of the situation.
And even IF the situation was a factual oneโฆ
That was a result of who you were in the past.
Youโre an entirely different person now.
Internally and physiologically.
So why let it hold you down and keep you from living the life you want to live?
Ask yourself that today, see what answers come up for you.
I think youโll start to see through the facade and realize just how much more of You that you can be.

There are two sides to you that you didnโt know existed.
Or rather, youโve been aware of them, but you donโt know their names.
Every individual has two sides to them, both of them are equally powerful and equally capable of helping you grow.
Your Light Warrior and your Dark Warrior.
Your Light Warrior is the version of you that is soft, loving, and supportive.
Your Light Warrior should not be mistaken as weak, but rather should be seen in the likeness of a benevolent king leading his people.
Your Dark Warrior is the version of you that is intense, hungry, and ruthless.
Your Dark Warrior should not be mistaken as evil, but rather should be seen in the likeness of a Spartan warrior dominating in battle.
Both of these sides reside inside you, but you have a tendency to pay more attention to one over the other.
You may support your Light Warrior more because you donโt want to be seen as mean, evil, or too intense - this creates a story within you that you are weak.
You may support your Dark Warrior more because you donโt want to be seen as weak, timid, or afraid - this creates a story within you that you are evil.
These views, stories, and skewed distribution of power comes from a lack of understanding of both versions of you - THEY ARE BOTH POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE IN THEIR OWN WAY.
Learn to lean into each version of you equally, and lean more into one than the other when certain moments arise.
When someone is in pain, comfort then with your Light Warrior.
When thereโs s*** that needs to be done, confront it with your Dark Warrior.
You are both your Light and your Dark Warriors, so learn to embrace them more.
Because the more you embrace them as equally powerful entities, the more powerful you will become as an individual as well.
Confidence will be abundant, self-worth will be high, and fear will hold no place in the direction of your actions.

Change and Growth donโt come as accidents.
They are done on purpose with the intention of becoming more.
You may not realize the process you go through for growth, but there is a process nonetheless.
If you truly want to see some major changes, I highly recommend you follow this framework to a T.
1๏ธโฃ ENGAGE - In order to change something for the better, you have to confront and ENGAGE yourself with whatever it is thatโs holding you back. This could be a fear, a disadvantage, etc.
2๏ธโฃ ACCEPT - A reason you may not be growing as an individual is that you are not ACCEPTING your current situation for what it is. Understanding and acceptance are a package deal, you can not fully utilize one without the other.
3๏ธโฃ EVOLVE - Once you have engaged with the source, and you have accepted it for what it is, only then are you able to make steps toward EVOLUTION and becoming a better version of yourself.
Engage, Accept, Evolve
This is a framework that was blind to me for so long, but not anymore.
Use this whenever you feel like youโve hit a roadblock, you can thank me later.

Why would you want to confront stressful things in your life?โ

Eating your second bag of popcorn while watching The Office for the 5th time in a row.โ

That's super easy to do, and now you don't have to deal with that super uncomfortable reality that you aren't living up to your full potential anymore.โ

The more you avoid the things that matter, the more painful they become.โ

While doing things that are comfortable now may seem its making life easier, it's making things harder for you in the long term.โ

There's nothing wrong with eating popcorn and watching The Office, I love doing both of those.โ

But using these as distractions to avoid doing the real work necessary to grow... that's on you.โ
