This little dude was wearing the perfect swimsuit for this post- covered in the American 🇺🇸.
Be safe this holiday both in and around the water!
⭐️ Always stay within arms reach of your child when in the water and always be IN the water with your child
⭐️ Assign a “Water Watcher” in 15 minute increments if you are around the water regardless if swimming time is planned- they must stay off their phone during their “shift”
⭐️ Hire a lifeguard if you plan to have a party where a pool or other water is present
⭐️ Place tables, chairs, or any other furnishings a few feet away from your pool child safety fence. Curious children can climb onto these items and find their way over the fence
⭐️ Check the integrity of pool fence latches and door locks leading to the water- especially if traveling and staying in a rental
⭐️ Remove pool floats and toys from the pool when finished swimming to not entice a little one into the water
⭐️ Dress your child in a brightly colored swimsuit if around the water
⭐️ Drink lots of water and reapply sunscreen often
⭐️ Use only US Coast Guard approved life jackets when on open water
Have a SAFE holiday!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

One of the best parts of being a certified ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) instructor is the ongoing continuing education opportunities available to us.
This past weekend, we hosted an instructor workshop in Fort Myers that included both in-water and classroom learning. These workshops help instructors stay current on the latest techniques, refine troubleshooting skills, and continue providing the highest quality instruction to the families we serve.
Just as valuable is the opportunity to collaborate, share experiences, and learn alongside other passionate ISR instructors who are committed to helping children become safer in and around the water.
We are always learning, growing, and striving to be better for the children and families who trust us with this important work. 💙

I am sick to my stomach posting this....
Florida has now lost 56 children to drowning this year. Nearly 80% of those children were between the ages of 1 and 4, and more than three-quarters of the deaths occurred in swimming pools. The most common scenario was a child getting out of the home undetected. These tragedies are preventable when families use multiple layers of protection, including active supervision, barriers, alarms, and self-rescue swim lessons.
Under 1 - 1 1.8%
1 year olds - 21 37.5%
2 year olds - 13 23.2%
3 year olds - 3 5.4%
4 year olds - 7 12.5%
5+ years - 11 19.6%
Among the 43 pool deaths:
Family Pool – 25
Airbnb/Vacation Rental Pool – 7
Neighbor's Pool – 3
Community Pool – 3
Relative/Friend Pool – 3
Hotel Pool – 1
Apartment Pool – 1
Child Got Out of the Home Undetected
31 of 56 deaths (55%)
Examples:
Slipped out a back door
Followed sibling outside
Left during nap time
Wandered from home at night
Left through a doggy door
Left while caregiver was using restroom
This remains the most common circumstance.
