Congratulations to Camryn Schmidt from the Northside Lady Bears for being awarded the 2025 Tournament of Champions MVP! 👏

Coach Merrill Mankin was a long-time Southside girls’ head coach and, most recently, a volunteer assistant coach for the Northside Lady Bears. Coach Mankin devoted his life to coaching girls’ basketball. He won over 800 games, 2 state championships at Southside, and 2 at Northside. He believed in hard-nosed, aggressive man-to-man defense. He also believed in rewarding the hardest-working player, regardless of talent. The Merrill Mankin Defensive Player Award is voted on by all the coaches and tournament committee, and is awarded to the player who has displayed this same talent during the ToC.
