Here’s a shot of the identical rigs used during the 1992 Bassmaster classic at Logan Martin Lake.

A quick story to tell y’all about some of the heartbreak tournament fishing.

The first day of the tournament I was flipping a jig and pork frog with 30lb. mono underneath overhanging Willow trees on the upper end of the lake.

It started out as one of those dream days you picture of being in the Bassmaster classic.

The first hour and a half of the tournament I had over 18 pounds of fish in the boat.

About 11 o’clock in the morning I pitched underneath an overhanging Willow tree and hooked a bass that I estimated between 7 and 8 pounds.

I got it all the way to the boat and got ready to lip the fish and it jumped right next to the boat and jumped off.

The very next willow tree I went to I hooked another bass close to the same size probably about a pound smaller and the same thing happened.

I got it about 5 feet from the boat and it jumped about 3 feet in the air and came off.

I would’ve called out too small fish with those that would’ve given me nearly 30 pounds for the day and a huge lead in the tournament.

I finished up the day and 3rd place.

This is the type of stuff that people never hear about that lives with anglers their entire life afterwards.
