Adding to the team

Parisa Assadi Kenny’s ‘Why’:

I began my yoga journey in 2020, in seeking a reprieve from the early anxieties of the pandemic. Practicing, at first, only in my little apartment in the city of Raleigh, I quickly found that yoga was not only a physical challenge, it was a vehicle of self discovery, meditation, and healing. I truly believe that when each individual enters into a yoga practice, their outstretched limbs are reaching towards and convening with something beyond this world and divine. It is my hope to assist individuals in my community in embarking on their own journey of self-discovery and transformative awareness. To be a yoga teacher is to witness peace blossom in this world through something as simple as one’s own movement - and to me this is a beautiful privilege that I am forever grateful for.

I came into this class last night prepared to skip the peak pose, I felt tired and honestly didn't trust my arm strength. But guided deliberately into feeling confident to try and then given so many tools to build the pose in a safe, non judgmental environment, I did "give it a go". And we enjoyed the space to try and broaden our understanding. That understanding of how I can change my perspective in this exploration away from the fear of trying, through litteral building blocks of support.

THE FOLD YOGA in FWB, FL is quite litterally on a mission to make yoga a practice that does not exclude, that builds trust and creativity and provides experienced teachers for all levels of practice. Our teachers are well trained and experienced, they know how to teach yoga because they PRACTICE YOGA!

Imagine the feeling right before you fall asleep—the moment when you're deeply relaxed, your body feels heavy, but you're still aware that you're lying in bed. Yoga nidra guides you into that state on purpose and helps you stay there. Yoga nidra is the art of resting so deeply that your body thinks it's asleep, while your awareness stays quietly awake.Technically, yoga nidra is a guided meditation practice where you lie down and systematically relax the body and direct awareness. Many people drift in and out of sleep, but the aim is a state of deep relaxation with some degree of conscious awareness still present.

Most people think presence means feeling calm.

But presence matters most when you don’t.

When the pose gets intense.
When the emotion rises.
When discomfort asks for your full attention.

That is where practice begins.

Not by making sensation disappear.

By staying connected to it without immediately turning it into a problem to solve, a threat to escape, or a fight to win.

Presence is not perfection.

It is the capacity to remain in relationship with what is here.

Solitude in this space is nice.. but better when you are all here.
