Ann Helms avenged her one-shot runner-up finish at the Daily News Junior Classic to take the Girls Overall championship while Murray State signee Steve Conley took the Overall Boys title by four shots over Joe Hamorski. Ann Helms posted a 152 total winning the overall title by three strokes

In 1984, Kent Hartzog made four birdies on the back nine to post 68-68-136 to win Boys Overall title at the Daily News Junior Classic.
Kim Tolomeo posted scores of 78 and 81 to secure the Girls Overall title-her first of two consecutive titles.

Daily News Jr. Classic Flashback-30 years ago: In 1994, Brooks Holliday held off Pensacola’s Matt Lopez for the Boys Overall title, while Robin Cook took the Girls Overall title. Robin Cook went on to play at Auburn University.

Flashback-2009 Daily News Jr. Classic: Kelsey Gibson shot 69-68-137 to win a hotly contested Marvin DeBolt Daily News Classic by one shot over Ashleigh Ryals and two-time winner Sarah Hicks. Kelsey Gibson went on to play at Southern Miss and USF, Ashley Ryals Smith played at South Alabama and Sarah Hicks played at Southern Miss.

On the boys side, Brandon Jowers came from behind to win posting 70-66-136 to edge Brett Ochsenreiter’s 71-68-139. Brandon Jowers went on to set ten school records while playing at Columbia University.

Flasback-40 years ago: Kent Hartzog posted four birdies on the back nine on the final day of play to take the 1984 Daily News Junior Classic while posting a score of 68-68-136. Kent went on to play at Huntingdon.
Kim Tolomeo ran away with the Girls Overall title with her score of 78-81-159. Kim played at Troy University

Flashback: 2021 Daily News Jr. Classic Champion Alia Scotka posted a +1 two-day total. Alia currently plays at UFW where she recently won the 2023 Gulf South Conference Women's Golf Championship, setting a tournament record score to win the event with a total of -4! Good luck on continued success
