Proud would be an understatement to describe the feeling for this group. The work they’ve put in together over the past year has been absolutely incredible to see. The growth is visible and the pure joy they play with is extremely fun to witness. They truly treat each other as their second family and have been an amazing group to grow close with. They’re eager to learn, get better, and LOVE to celebrate each other’s successes along the way.

The girls battled this weekend and went a perfect 5-0 in the Top 100 Showcase, improving their total record to 11-4 on the year. They played complete complimentary softball (besides maybe 1 inning, but hey always opportunities to get better!!!). Some individual highlights are below:

Luci Schott - .615 AVG, 7 RBIs, 9 Rs (And a SWEEEEET diving catch in left field)
Bayleigh Sleeth - .500 AVG, 3 2Bs, HR, 5 RBIs
Mia Kurtz - .455 AVG, 2B, 2 Inside-the-Park Homeruns 💨💨, 7 RBIs, 8 Rs
Maddy Burbrink - .300 AVG, 2 2Bs, 5 RBIs
Gracelyn Jones - .300 AVG. .533 OBP, 2B, 6 Rs, 5 BBs

The girls put up 36 Runs as a team in the 5 games as they continue to deliver offensively in key situations.

The girls have a well deserved week off this week and are back in action October 24th in the Great Lakes Fall Showcase.

We were a little short-handed today with fall sports and some fall breakers, but the girls showed up ready to compete!! Huge shoutout to Emma, Ella, Kaitlyn and Maddie today for the help, it was a very fun group to be around and see in action.

Mad Apple Hammel/Bowman went 3-0 on day 1 of the Top 100 showcase in Westfield, IN. Pitching and defense were top notch today as they only gave up 3 runs on the day. Match that with some timely hitting as well as some great situation offense and it led to a very successful day at the diamond.

Mad Apple 18U Hammel/Bowman played in the D1 Fastpitch Demarini Fall Brawl this past weekend in Columbus, OH. They started off the weekend going 1-2 in pool play (both losses came in hard fought battles against 2 of the overall top 3 seeds in the tournament).

The girls then brought the energy and fight on Sunday and won their first 3 bracket games, before running out of steam in the championship game against a very good Louisville Stunners National team. They earned themselves a 2nd place finish!

Overall, the girls played 7 games this weekend with a short-handed lineup as we only had 10 girls all weekend. Very proud of the fight and competitiveness that these girls showed in each and every game and have loved watching them grow together since last fall. They enjoy what they do and really get along like a 2nd family. EXTREMELY special group!! 🥎

- Luci Schott (3 HRs & FIFTEEN RBIs - hit .591 on the weekend)
- Olivia Konger (.500 AVG, 9 Rs, 4 SBs)
- Zoe Meyer (.368 AVG, 5 RBIs & 6 Rs)

As a team, they hit .322 on the weekend, hit 23 extra base hits, had 47 RBIs, 59 Runs & 17 SBs.

Gracelyn Jones had a fantastic weekend on the bump. Overall, she threw 15 innings and had a 2.33 ERA. Each of our pitchers stepped up in huge moments on Sunday.

The girls had the opportunity to do a team camp at Ball State yesterday. They got some valuable reps and some 1-on-1 coaching opportunities with Division I coaches. We got some great takeaways for the girls to apply and keep on getting better. Excited for this group and to see them continue to develop!

Mad Apple Hammel/Bowman 18U is looking to add 1–2 dedicated athletes who are ready to compete, improve, and be part of a program that values player development just as much as winning. Ideally looking for 3B & OF help, but all positions can be considered.

Mad Apple Bowman ended their 25/26 season this past weekend at the D1 Grand Finale in Bolivar, OH. This group came to work this summer. They started out the summer with a shaky showing going 1-5 at the Outlaws Summer Invitational. It would have been extremely easy for this group to falter and get down on themselves, but they demonstrated the opposite. They showed up to each practice afterwards hungry to get better and always wanted to do better than the last rep. That right there is the true heartbeat to this team. They never let a result of a bad game hinder their attitude and focus level for the next one. They became resilient in their mental state and had the mindset that they were going to show up each and every pitch for their teammates. It may be my favorite quality from a team that I have ever coached. Were we perfect? HECK NO. But we continued to show up each and every day and wanted to grow and get better and that’s all that I can ever ask out of this group.

There’s a special bond with this team. It took a little while to get the mojo to feel right after combining two teams for this travel season, but it’s been awesome to see these connections continue to grow and develop. They might be deeper than any team I’ve ever coached. The “good vibes” standard is alive and well and we’re going to keep having fun while continuing to keep getting better.

This is demonstrated even further by having 10 of our girls return for next season. We’re excited to add to this amazing group and we can’t wait to continue to see the growth and development from this very special group in terms of their softball abilities as well as these bonds continue to grow deeper.

I also wanted to take a moment and shout out some outstanding performances this summer. This group is extremely talented and they were able to put that on display the entire summer. The girls went 15-14 on the year, they hit .339 as a team with an OBP of .420. As a team, they hit 37 2Bs, 10 3Bs & 23 HRs. 154 RBIs and 197 runs as a team (averaging out to 6.8 Runs/game). A lot of our girls gained some serious college interest along the way and our lone 2027 earned a college offer along the way with some other schools that will surely follow suit here soon.
