The Northern Lights just wrapped up the busiest part of their schedule, where they played on back-to-back Saturdays! Jason Vietzke and Paulo Felten were the team’s primary goal scorers during the five game stretch, while Grant Larson and Michael Sack played some solid defense.
The Northern Lights next practice will be on March 8 at 1 p.m. at Fridley Middle School.
Earlier today, the 2025 USPSA season got underway with the Northern Lights visiting the Minnesota Shockwave for a doubleheader in Monticello.
Game one: Minnesota Shockwave 9, Northern Lights 1
Game two: Minnesota Shockwave 4, Northern Lights 0
After a disappointing first game besides for Jason Vietzke’s goal, the Northern Lights improved their defensive play in game two. Michael Sack and Grant Larson both made some impressive saves to limit the Shockwave’s scoring.
On Sunday, June 16, the Premier Cup at the USPSA Conference Cup Series wrapped up in Fort Wayne, Indiana with the Northern Lights clinching fourth place. Throughout the three-day tournament, the club displayed great defense and limited offense, and most of their games were close. Overall, they fared pretty well for competing in the top division for the first time!

Semifinals: Northern Lights 1, Turnstone (Indiana) 4
Third Place Game: Northern Lights 0, RHI (Indiana) 1
The Northern Lights had a great season that showed that they can be competitive at the highest level! The team was not deterred facing the toughest teams in the nation, and they showed fans and the power soccer world that they have a shot of bringing the Premier Cup home in the near future.

Tomorrow, April 27, the Northern Lights are participating in the Roll Into Spring Power Soccer Tournament. It is last full day of games before the USPSA Conference Cup Series takes place from June 13 to 17 in Fort Wayne, Indiana! The event is happening at Brooklyn Center Middle and High School (6500 Humboldt Ave. N.), and will be utilizing both gyms.

Game 2: 11:00 a.m. versus Chippewa Valley Hooligans (Court 1)
Game 3: 1:15 p.m. versus GLASA (Chicago) Fire (Court 1)

The 2023-2024 Midwest Power Soccer Association's season commenced yesterday! The Northern Lights partook in the Frosty Frenzy, which included the first annual Minnesota United FC Power Soccer All-Star Game, in Brooklyn Center. The club won two games and lost once.

Game 2: Minnesota Shockwave 8, Northern Lights 1
Game 3: Northern Lights 3, Chippewa Valley Hooligans 1
Congratulations are in store for Grant Lars and Jason Vietzke, who were selected for and played in the all-star game!
It was a fine first day for the team being in the Premier Conference, but as always, adjustments can be made for improved and crispier play!
The Northern Lights’ first practice of the season will be held on Saturday, January 6 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Fridley Middle School.

The USPSA Conference Cup Series in Indiana came to an epic conclusion today! The Northern Lights finished in second place in the Champions Cup, as they lost a close match to the San Jose Flash two to one. They scored first thanks to Linae Larson, but could not hold on against a strong team.
Additionally, Linae was selected to the all-tournament team! Congratulations Linae!
Because of the outcome, the Northern Lights are moving up to compete in the Premier Conference! It is the highest and most competitive conference of power soccer, so it will be a tough snd good challenge.
Overall, it was a great weekend of completion with lots of goals and great defense!
